The Sun enters Capricorn tonight announcing heralding the Winter Solstice and therefore the beginning of Winter.  Perhaps it should not surprise you, dear reader, then that when the Sun enters Capricorn people become colder - both figuratively and literally. With another year almost behind them, people may feel older, and more responsible. They may settle into a more practical mood or mindset and turn their attention and interest to their financial affairs, set new responsibilities for themselves, and become more determined.

As you can see from the chart above The Sun and Jupiter are about 4 degrees apart and therefore applying a conjunction between the two planets.  The expansive energy of Jupiter amplifies the confidence, creativity, and power of the Sun. For the short time this aspect is active, people may feel more confident and so this is also a good time to start something new or to accept new opportunities and make the best of them.

Venus Retrograde (General) 

Venus stations retrograde approximately once every 18 months and it usually last for about 40 days. Those things ruled by Venus, such as money and love, are affected by Venus Retrograde.

• Love - When Venus stations retrograde, we tend to see couples break up, and in some cases get back together. We also tend to see ex-lovers come back into our lives. Venus Retrograde is a good time for us to evaluate our relationships. This usually occurs so that one or both parties can get closure, not necessarily so that they can reconcile.
• Money & Values - Venus has sway over those things that we value, so when Venus stations retrograde this is also a good time to review our values. We also need to reevaluate our relationship to money. How important it is to us and what we are willing to do to get it.
• Taurus and Libra - Because Venus rules both Taurus and Libra, those born under this sign may have a much more difficult time navigating Venus Retrograde.

With Venus Retrograde occurring int he public sector of the chart, people become much more concerned about how they are perceived by others. They may question their own worth and how they leverage their worth (labor) to make money for themselves. Some people may (re)discover their passion for their career or job. This is a good time to (re)define one's goals and aspirations, getting a clear picture of your expectations and what you want in terms of money and love.

For example, in my own chart, Venus Retrograde at 26° Capricorn is separating a conjunction to my Natal Jupiter at 02° Aquarius. This is a weak aspect because the orb is so wide, and it is separating - meaning the planets are moving farther apart. Under this aspect you can generally see your social network growing, however since Venus is retrograde, it can manifest as reviewing how you social with others to bring you pleasure and friendship.

A full moon occurs when both the Sun and the Moon occupy the same degree of opposite signs at the same time. As you can see from the above Full Moon Chart, the Sun is in 27° Sagittarius and the Moon is 180° away in 27° Gemini making this a Full Moon.

The Big Picture

The Full moon occurs when the Sun and Moon are in opposition. An opposition is a type of aspect in which two planets are 180° apart. They are divided and struggling to pull away from one another and each feels that the lack control over the situation. The Moon is transiting the area of our chart associated with our community, our neighbors and siblings while the Sun is occupying the area of the chart dealing with foreign people, places, and ideas. So we have a divide here between "us" and "them".

Whereas New Moons bring something new into our lives, such as a new person, a new opportunity, or a new challenge; a Full Moon brings a completion or an end to something. A Full Moon in Gemini and the 3rd House can indicate the end of a feud with a neighbor, or a rivalry with a sibling resulting in a reconciliation. Issues of communicating effectively with others may also arise. In general this is a good time for clearing up misunderstanding with people and explaining how you feel more directly and clearly. Moreover, this is a good time to have a long overdue conversation with someone that you have been putting off.

How to Work With Full Moon in Gemini Energy

• the mantra for Gemini is I THINK, so stop and think before you speak (or write).
• work on your written and verbal communication skills; avoid any language or tone that could be misconstrued.

The Personal Touch

To better understand how the Full Moon in Gemini will have an affect of you, you need to look at the natal house where 27° Gemini falls in your chart. For example, in my birth chart 27° Gemini aligns with my eighth house of transformation and shared resources. Knowing that the Sun and Moon are 180° apart on this date and time, that would put the Sun in 27° Sagittarius in my second house of money, material possessions, and personal values.

For me, this would indicate that some type of deep transformation is to be expected. Regeneration and renewal comes through releasing or letting go of blockages related to the idea of "what is ours" vs. "what is mine" or what I value vs. what others value. Issues related to physical intimacy and trust may also need to be addressed. In addition the Transit Full Moon in 8° Gemini is applying a square to my MC at 10° Leo which can result in moodiness and an imbalance between work life and home life. If a harmonious balance between the two are already in place, this can simply result in heightened emotional sensitivity.

When the New Moon is in Sagittarius people are generally more outspoken, kinder, and more generous, social, and well-humored. People are fond of change now and so they can be more restless than usual. They may also feel a strong urge to travel, to see new people and to do new things. A New Moon brings new opportunities and a New Moon in Sagittarius brings new opportunities to broaden your mind and expand your horizons through exploring new places, or meeting new people. People are generally more adventurous and willing to take more chances. A renewed interest in spirituality may also be a result of the new moon in Sagittarius.
