Mars in Aquarius 2020

Mars in Aquarius
3/30/2020  12:43 PM (Pacific)
Natural Chart / Whole Houses

Mars in Aquarius (General)

When Mars (I Act) is in Aquarius (I Rebel) people are no longer satisfied to sit idly by and wait for things to happen, but rather they are driven to do something to bring about change. They can be impulsive, original, independent, erratic, and unconventional in many regards. In Aquarius, Mars brings people together to fight. The good news is that they tend to hold a more optimistic view of the future and apply their surplus of energy to humanitarian causes because they know that there is strength in numbers and no one person alone can successfully address the issue or matter at hand.

The house where Aquarius is in in your Natal Chart is the area of life in which you will be drive to rebel against.

  • If your rising sign is Aries, Aquarius is your 11th House
  • If your rising sign is Taurus, Aquarius is your 10th House
  • If your rising sign is Gemini, Aquarius is your 9th House
  • If your rising sign is Cancer, Aquarius is your  8th House
  • If your rising sign is Leo, Aquarius is your 7th House
  • If your rising sign is Virgo, Aquarius is your 6th House
  • If your rising sign is Libra, Aquarius is your  5th House
  • If your rising sign is Scorpio, Aquarius is your 4th House
  • If your rising sign is Sagittarius, Aquarius is your 3rd House
  • If your rising sign is Capricorn, Aquarius is your 2nd House
  • If your rising sign is Aquarius, Aquarius is your 1st House
  • If your rising sign is Pisces, Aquarius is your 12th House

Example

Mars + Aquarius + 4th House

I Act + I Rebel + Home, Family, Tradition

When Mars is in Aquarius and the 4th house you are driven to rebel against tradition. You could make some impulsive decisions that cause a rift with your family (if Mars is badly aspected, there could be violence). It is important now that you make absolutely sure of your choice before you give a voice to them and share your decision with those close to you.  This is a good time to apply your excess energy towards home improvement projects, however, you should pay careful attention to what you are doing as accidents in the home could also occur.

Aspects in the Transit Chart

If you look at the transit chart above, you will notice that Mars making two important and powerful aspect. They are Mars conjunct Saturn and Mars Square Uranus. Let's take a closer look at them.

Mars Conjunct Saturn

I act blends with I achieve -  Mars is aggressive, combative, and impatient and this blends with Saturn's ambition and discipline. Whereas Mars is driven to act and act now, Saturn warns us of our limitations. Saturn wants us to slow down, to use caution, and exercise self control.  The challenge then become to reign one's self in and apply our energy in a practical and stable manner towards bringing order to the world.

Mars Square Uranus

I Act challenges I Rebel- Again, Mars is aggressive, combative and impatient. Mars wants to act and act now! Uranus is restless, innovative, and unpredictable. In this instance, Mars' urge to act is at odds with Uranus' urge to rebel giving strength to the desire to break free and revolt against authority. You don't want to feel boxes in by anyone's rules, regulations, or expectations. This can lead to impulsive actions that you might later regret.  The goal here is to learn to express your originality and individuality in a healthy manner.

Aspects to Natal

To personalize your astrological reading, you should also look to any aspects between Mars and planets in your Natal Chart. Let us suppose then that you have Jupiter in 2° Aquarius. Then it would be said that Transit Mars is applying a conjunction to your Natal Jupiter.

Mars Conjunct Jupiter

I Act blends with I Expand - Mars gives you drive, energy, and passion. Jupiter is the planet of expansion, optimism, and growth. When Mars makes a conjunction to Jupiter you're more optimistic and have more energy, more confidence, and more initiative. You may find that you have more physical strength now, as well as more sexual energy and charisma. It is possible that you could find that it is easier for you now to attract a lover due to your increased sexual attractiveness and virility.

Ruler of the House

The Ruler of the House is another aspect of astrological interpretation that should be considered. Mars rules Aries and so the house that Aries occupies in your Natal Chart will influence the ingress of Mars into Aquarius. There are two questions that you need to ask yourself.

  1. What house does Aries (Ruled by Mars) in my Natal Chart?
  2. What house does Aquarius (Mars in Aquarius) occupy in my Natal Chart?
Let us suppose that Aries is in your 6th house and Aquarius is in your 4th. Therefore, the ruler of your 6th house is in the 4th House. This could be interpreted as "daily habits, routines, and health serve family ties, culture, and a tradition.

We can then expand on this statement and say that "having a routine helps your household run more smoothly. Issues at work can affect your home and family life now. Your ability to keep and hold down a job affects your sense of security."

How will the ingress of Mars into Aquarius manifest for you?

The Moon in Gemini

Moon in Gemini
3/28/2020  6:38 PM (Pacific)
Natural Chart / Whole Houses

Note: Last year, I didn't really cover the transits of the moon other than it's relationship to other planets and positions in the form of aspects. This year, I will be covering the Moon's journey through the zodiac at the rate of one sign per month in the natural order.

Moon in Gemini (General)

The Moon makes a full circuit through the zodiac once every 28 1/2 days spending about 2.5 days in each sign. It's mantra is I FEEL and some keywords associated with it include, but are not limited to, childhood, cycles, emotions, feelings, habits, home, change, instincts, mother, passive, subconscious. nurturing, and imagination. The Moon rules Cancer, is Exalted in Taurus, in fall in Scorpio, and Detriment in Capricorn (see essential dignity).

Gemini's mantra is I COMMUNICATE (it's ruler is Mercury) so when the Moon is in Gemini you feel more comfortable expressing your emotions and feelings. It's easier for you to open up to other people and get things off your chest of an emotional nature. The downside is you can be more vulnerable to criticism or hurtful words. During the short time that the Moon is transiting Gemini you may also find that you are busier than you normally are or that you get bored more easily if you have nothing to do. This is a good time to harness that energy to finish old projects or get involved in your community in some way.

The house where Gemini falls in your chart is the area of life that you will feel more comfortable talking about.

  • If your rising sign is Aries, Gemini is your 3rd House.
  • If your rising sign is Taurus, Gemini is your 2nd House.
  • If your rising sign is Gemini, Gemini is your 1st House.
  • If your rising sign is Cancer, Gemini is your 12th House.
  • If your rising sign is Leo, Gemini is your 11th House.
  • If your rising sign is Virgo, Gemini is your 10th House.
  • If your rising sign is Libra, Gemini is your 9th House.
  • If your rising sign is Scorpio, Gemini is your 8th House.
  • If your rising sign is Sagittarius, Gemini is your 7th House.
  • If your rising sign is Capricorn, Gemini is your 6th House.
  • If your rising sign is Aquarius, Gemini is your 5th House.
  • If your rising sign is Pisces, Gemini is your 4th House.

Example

Moon + Gemini + 8th House

I feel + I communicate + sex, death, birth, transformation, shared resources, and spirituality.

When the Moon is in Gemini and the 8th House you're emotional about shared resources like debt and other bills. You waver between keeping your fears to yourself and wanting to talk to someone about them.  You can be more possessive of the things that you have fearing that you might lose them or you can become jealous of the things that other people have.

Aspects

Aspects or relationship between planets is another dimension of astrological interpretation that should be considered. In this instance we look at any aspects forming between the Transit Moon and planets in the Natal Chart. Let us say that you have Jupiter in 2° Aquarius in your natal Chart, that would mean that the Transit Moon is making a applying a Trine to Natal Jupiter. A trine is a type of aspect in which the energy of one planet is supportive of the energy or urge of another planet.

Moon + Trine + Jupiter

I feel supports I expand

When the Moon forms a trine to Jupiter your mood is more pleasant, optimistic and cheerful. Domestic matters and relationships (especially with women) go smoother. You feel luckier which leads to you being more generous.

Ruler of the House

The Ruler of the House is another aspect that should be examined. The Moon rules Cancer so the house which Cancer occupies in your Natal Chart is the area of life that will be impacted by the ingress of the Moon in Gemini. To interpret the Moon as a house ruler you have to ask yourself two questions. They are:

  1. What House does Cancer (Ruled by the Moon) occupy in my Natal Chart?
  2. What House does Gemini (Moon transiting Gemini) occupy in my Natal Chart?
Let us suppose that Cancer is your 9th House which would make Gemini your 8th House. Then you would say that the Ruler of the 9th House (Cancer) is in the 8th House (Gemini). What this means is that the ruler of the 9th House This can be expressed as the activities of the 9th house service the urge and activities of the 8th house. This can be expressed as higher education, travel and meeting different people serve passion, intensity, sex and shared resources.

When can then extrapolate on this statement and say something like "You use higher education to help you find your passion. Travel to foreign places allow you to explore the forbidden or unspoken. You use sex to search for meaningful life experiences. This may lead you to explore the sexual practices of other cultures of belief systems (tantric sex for example). You explore the link between sexuality and spirituality. "

How will the ingress of the Moon into Gemini manifest for you?

New Moon in Aries 2020

New Moon in Aries
3/24/20 2:28 AM PST
Natural Chart / Whole Houses

The New Moon

A New Moon occurs when both the Sun and the Moon simultaneously occupy the same degree of the same sign in the zodiac. As you can see from the above chart, the Sun and Moon both occupy 4° Aries at 2:28 am on 3/24/2020 making this a new moon.

How to Work with New Moon in Aries Energy

  • Finish old projects before starting new ones.
  • Take a personal inventory of self and choose one aspect of your personality you don't like and make an effort to eliminate that quality,  mode of thought or behavior.
  •  Decide what you like about yourself and work on expanding and accentuating those qualities.
  • Spend some time on self-care, whatever that means to you. Get your hair or nails done, treat yourself to a nice meal, buy a new outfit.
  • Take your relationships to the next level or break if off completely if you don't think it's going to go anywhere.
  • Let go of the past.
  • Study  your own Natal Chart.

New Moon in Aries (General)

When the Moon (I feel) is in Aries (I am) people feel more energetic, confident, and assertive. They can be more impatient and crave change. Since Aries is the first sign of the zodiac, this is a good time for beginning and to start new things. When the Moon is in Aries people are generally more courageous, assertive, and imaginative.  They can be forceful and rely on themselves more than usual (perhaps too much).  However, they can be more argumentative as well and so butt heads with others if they are not able to keep their cool (Aries is a fire sign that rules the head so the term hot-headed applies here).

The Astrological House in which the New Moon occurs in your Natal Chart gives an indication of the area of life activated by the New Moon and where you can expect to see the energy of the New Moon in Aries to play out. Since the New Moon occurs in 4° Aries, you would look at your Natal, or Birth Chart, to ascertain in what House 4° Aries occurs.

The Twelve Houses of Life

  1. The self, ego, appearance, initiative, leadership, fresh starts and new beginnings.
  2. Money and material matters.  Your physical environment, income, money, and your sense of self-esteem.
  3. Communication in all its forms (thinking, writing, speaking, etc... ) as well as siblings, local travel, teachers and community events.
  4. Home, privacy, your basic sense of security, your mother, children, and your own ability to nurture others.
  5. Creative expression, drama, attention, love, and romance.
  6. Health and service to others. Your routine, diet, exercise and helpfulness to others.
  7. Marriage, partnerships, and relationships of all kinds.  Contracts, business deals, etc...
  8. Birth, death, sex, other people's money and property.
  9. Expansion, the higher mind, foreign matters (languages, cultures, travel) luck, adventure, risk, philosophy, ethics and morals.
  10. The public, fame, honors, reputation, awards, boundaries, rules, discipline, authority, the father.
  11. Groups of people such as friends and associations, networking, social justice.  Originality, sudden unexpected events, invention, surprises, and all things futuristic.
  12. Endings. Completion, tying up loose ends, old age, karma, making amends, and the afterlife. Imagination, creativity, poetry, and the subconscious mind.

A Practical Example

New Moon in Aries and the 6th House

With the Moon (I feel) in Aries (assertive) and the 6th House (health and work) ruled by Virgo (I analyze), you may be feeling more critical at this time and see problems everywhere. Problems that need to be corrected. You want to get more organized in your work, streamline your processes, and make your self as efficient as possible. If you are not able to make these changes at work, this may also be a good time to look for a new job that is more in harmony with the way you like to work. This is also a good time to change or refine your diet or exercise routine.

Aspects

Aspects, or relationships between planets are another dimension of astrological interpretation that should be considered. For example, if your Natal Neptune was at 4° Sagitarrius the New Moon would be making an exact square (difficult aspect) to Neptune. Such an aspect would make you more nostalgic, you may find that you live more in the past thinking about better days or the way things were rather than the present. It could be harder for ou to make decisions now and you are more susceptible to deception by others and by yourself.

Your Annual Wishing Moon

If Aries if also your natal 11th house, this would be your annual wishing moon.

My Saturn Return Story

What is Your Saturn Return

If you were born around 29 years ago and have Saturn in Aquarius in your Natal Chart, congratulations! You're about to observe your first Saturn Return. You should have begun to feel the effect of your Saturn Return as soon as Saturn entered Aquarius on 3/21 at 8:58 PM PST and it will officially begin as soon as Saturn returns to the exact degree in occupies in your Natal Chart.

The Saturn Return can be scary for some people because it's gotten a bad reputation but one's Saturn Return is a time of maturity when you face challenges that force you to finally grow up and take responsibility for your life -- whether you think you already have or not. Think of this as a test of your ability to adult, a time when you get the opportunity to put to use everything you learned before.
Pay attention to what happens to you, the things that stress you, the things that scare you, the events that challenge you when Saturn first enters Aquarius. This will give you an idea of what you can expect when your Saturn Return officially begins when it returns to the exact degree it occupied in your Natal Chart.

My Saturn Return Story

I was born with Saturn in 3° Cancer and the 9th House. My Saturn Return unofficially began on 6/5/2003 when Saturn entered Cancer. However, it wasn't exact until 7/3/2003, which was three months before my 30th birthday.  It is important that I explain that in my Saturn Return Chart, Saturn occupies my 10th house of career, ambition, and profession; and as Saturn rules Capricorn, Saturn also ruled my 4th house of home, family, and living situation. This will be important as you read the story below.

At that time, I was still living in South Carolina and working as an Assistant Manger with Defender Services in the Springs Cotton Mills. However, that Summer we were told that the mill would be closing due to NAFTA and many operations moving overseas.  I was able to draw unemployment and in January 2004 I went to work for a Home Improvement company that shall remain nameless.

At this new job I had to deal with a lot of homophobia and abuse, not only from customers but also from co-workers and management. Suffice it to say that I was not happy in this new job, but job opportunities then were few and far between.  As unhappy as I was - and I honestly believe I was suffering from depression - I tried to make it work. Unfortunately, I allowed myself to be influenced by some unscrupulous people.  Against all logic, and my better judgement, I participated in theft of both money and products.

In November of 2004 the thefts where discovered and I was among a large number of people who were not only fired but also charged with theft. Instead of being arrested in front of everyone, I was given the opportunity to turn myself in to the police. So I lost my job, I was facing a jail sentence, and because I was fired I was unable to draw unemployment so I had no income.

The judge allowed me out on bail (posted by a friend). Unfortunately,  without a job, I lost my home and had to move back in with my mother. I was eventually able to get a job in fast food. Ultimately, I was able to go through a process called Pre-Trial Intervention (PTI). As part of this program, I had to pay $700.00 in restitution and serve 100 hours of community service.  I did my community service at the local library where I cleaned shelves, re-stacked books, and helped people find information. The librarian was elated when she learned that I was a tarot reader and she actually spotted my service hours in exchange for a few readings.

By December of 2004 I had fulfilled all of the terms of my community service and paid back all restitution and thus all charges against me were dropped.  In January of 2005 I moved to Beaufort, SC to live with a friend and start my life over.  There, I went to work for a major grocery store chain. In July of 2005, Saturn finally left Cancer and entered Leo. Even then I was unsure about my place in life and my life direction. None the less,  my troubles were not completely over.

In August of 2005 the grocery chain I was working for went bankrupt and I lost my job again. However, because I was in a managerial position, I got a nice severance package and was able to draw unemployment. The friend I was living with in Beaufort happened to be in the Navy and was being transferred to NAS Whidbey the beginning of the following year. When my friend was transferred to NAS Whidbey in January of 2006 I move with him. As you can see, I was in a much better position this time. I had an income thanks to being able to transfer my  unemployment to WA State and thanks to my friend I had a place to stay. A few weeks after arriving in Oak Harbor, WA I was able to secure a job and a few month later I got my own apartment.

So while I suffered all these losses, looking back I see that everything that I lost just opened the way for something better to take it's place. It really freed me to break out of a small-town life that I didn't necessarily want for myself but just happened to be living (like playing a character in a book or movie). I had bigger dreams for myself.  It was here in Washington that I really found myself and felt that my life truly began. I established myself as "Carolina Dean", I became a published author, and I found a certain amount of financial independence doing something that I enjoy.

Looking Forward

My second Saturn Return will occur in about 12 years around Aug of 2032 just before my 59th birthday. While I have not looked at the chart for this second return, I have a strong belief that by the time Saturn returns to 3° Cancer that I will go home again.

How was YOUR Saturn Return?

The Mythology and Symbolism of Saturn

So named after Saturn in Roman Mythology (and Cronus in Greek Mythology), Saturn is the father of Zeus and husband of Rhea. He was a god of agriculture, plenty, and renewal. He has become associated with time, and the passage of time, and can be seen in the figure of Father Time, with Mother Earth (his wife).

Perhaps the most famous mythological story associated with Saturn concerns him eating his children at birth whom he feared would overthrow him and seize power for themselves. In effort to save her latest child, Rhea secretly gave birth to Zeus and cleverly gave Saturn a stone wrapped in swaddling clothes in his place. Saturn ate the stone thinking it was his son. Later, Zeus would trick Saturn into ingesting an emetic forcing him to vomit out Zeus' brothers and sisters who were apparently unharmed. Zeus then overthrew his father, Saturn, and became the King of the Gods.

In the Tarot, Saturn can be seen in the Temperance card, which is a card of balance and harmony. This is often a balance born out of struggle. It is about learning and growing from our mistakes, finding the good in the bad, and the blessing in the bane. This is often a matter of experimentation and experience. In the Temperance card we can see an angel (Saturn) mixing two cups between which flows the water. In some respects this looks similar to an hourglass with the sands of time flowing through it. Within the flow of time we grow, change, and experience the ups and down of life through which we (hopefully) grow and mature. The only way out, is through....

In modern astrology, Saturn is a planet associated with discipline and responsibility. Transits of Saturn can feel like we have been chewed up and spit out but it is often for our own good. In this respect I see Saturn as a teacher very much like the character of Severus Snape in the Harry Potter books. Severus is a gruff, rude, rigid, and unyielding disciplinarian. He is countered by Albus Dumbledore (a kind of Jupiter figure) who is open-minded, benevolent, permissive, and generous. However, the thing that they both have in common is that they both care about Harry Potter, in their own way and for their own reasons, and they both want to protect him and see him succeed.

The Astrology of Saturn

Saturn is the 6th planet from the Sun in our solar system and as such it moves very slowly across the universe. It stays in each sign for about 2.5 years and takes about 30 years to make one full orbit around the Sun.

Saturn's mantra is I ACHIEVE and his basic urge is to bring order and stability wherever he goes. Some keywords associated with Saturn include, but are not limited to, the following: Discipline, Ambition, Boundaries, Caution, Control, Cynicism, Duty, Effort, Justice, Authority, Limitation, Responsibility, Reality, Prudence, Thrift, Reliable, Practical

* I achieve order and stability in imaginative and unconventional ways in the area of home, family.

With Saturn in Aquarius and the 4th house you could remodel, re-arrange, or relocate. In any case, you can expect to experience setbacks, delays, and blocks in your plans. Family relationships could also become a concern. You may address limitations that were placed on you as part of your early conditioning in life. You could be motivated to work on family issues now, take more responsibility within your home, or cut ties with a toxic family member during this transit. You may experience feelings of being alone and unsupported in life during this transit.

Aspects

Aspects, or relationships between planets, is another dimension of astrological interpretation that should be considered. For example. Let us suppose that you have Jupiter at 2° Aquarius, what this means is that Transit Saturn is applying a conjunction to your Natal Jupiter. A conjunction is a type of aspect in which the energy or urge of one planet blends with the urge of another planet in such as way that it is difficult to distinguish one from another. Let us break it down:

* Transit Saturn Conjunct Natal Jupiter
* I achieve melds with I expand

You're feeling more pessimistic now and find yourself in a position where you have to take off any "rose colored glasses" and be more realistic about your life. You feel stuck in a situation or mindset that is stifling or limiting in some way from which you cannot shake yourself free. You aren't confident in your ability to make sound decisions for yourself right now and will have to work harder to make the right decisions.

Ruler of the House

The Ruler of the House is another aspect of astrological interpretation that can be examined. Saturn rules Capricorn so the astrological house that Saturn occupies in your birth chart will have a profound influence on the ingress of Saturn in Aquarius. To interpret Saturn as a house ruler you have to ask yourself two questions. They are:

1) What house does Capricorn (ruled by Saturn) occupy in my Natal Chart?
2) What house does Aquarius (Saturn entering Aquarius) occupy in my Natal Chart?
For example, in my own chart Capricorn is in the 3rd House and Aquarius is in my 4th House. What this mean is that The Ruler (Saturn) of my 3rd house (Capricorn) is in my 4th house (Aquarius). This can then be expressed as "thought processes, communication, and self-expression serves family ties, culture, and tradition."

We can then extrapolate on this statement and say something like you have more conversations and gather information that helps you to feel emotionally safe and grounded. You write in order to feel more grounded. You draw upon your heritage and family tradition as source material for what you want to write or talk about.

How will the ingress of Saturn into Aquarius manifest for you?

Your North Node & You

Your North Node & You

The North Node () is not a planet but is rather a mathematical point in space where the Moon's orbit intersects the plane of the ecliptic. It is always balanced by the South Node () and they are always 180° apart. In Eastern Astrology they are known as the shadow planets Rahu (Dragon's Head) and Ketu (Dragon's Tail).

1. The South Node represents your comfort zone. It is the path of least resistance, old habits and / or learned behavior that you have a tendency to fall back on. Those astrologers who believe in past lives hold that the South Node represents habits and behaviors that were formed in previous lives and which we carry into the present one.
2) The North Node represents the path to growth and that which we must do in order to become an evolved person. These thought processes and behaviors are outside our comfort zone and can often ben quite difficult for us to do.

How to Use this List

Take a sheet of paper and divide it in half forming two columns. Find your North Node in your natal chart by Sign and House and write down the list of behaviors to embrace on the left side of the paper. Then find your South Node by Sign and House (remember it is always 180° degrees from the North Node) and write down the list of behaviors to release on the right side of the paper.

This is your soul mission in this lifetime. You can meditate on these lists and expand on it with an understanding of your present behavior and thought processes with the intention of moving outside your comfort zone and growing as a human being. Remember this can be a lifelong process.

The Transit North Node

If you are being a good little astrologer and studying your Solar Returns and Lunar Returns on a regular basis, then you will notice that the transit North / South Nodes will change from month to month and year to year.

The transit North / South node in your solar-return chart is your soul mission for that astrological year. Conversely, the transit North / South node in your Lunar Return chart each month is your soul mission for that month. In these cases you can use the descriptions above to list those thoughts and actions that you should embrace and release for that period of time in question.

Where is the North Node in your Natal Chart and what does it say about your soul mission?
