The Astrology of Donald J. Trump

The Astrology of Donald J. Trump

The 45th President of the United States of America

The Chart

Interpretation

At the time of the native’s birth, the Sun was in Gemini, which would be the native’s Sun-Sign. However, many factors go into the delineation of a natal chart and this report doesn’t solely rely on the placement of his Sun but also the placement of the other planets and other factors as well such as aspects or relationships between planets.

The archetypal Gemini is someone who can be described as restless, curious, indecisive, open minded and yet vacillating. The native needs constant activity, or change,  in his life or else he will get easily bored and disinterested. He likes to believe that he does well in everything. He will likely learn more from his own experience rather than formal education. In the 11th house, the Sun gives a tendency towards humanitarianism and generally sees others as equals, though he himself wants to retain his individuality by being unique among others in some way. His general outlook of life tends towards looking for opportunities in all situations and interactions.

With a greater number of planets in the Eastern Hemisphere of his chart, the native is naturally gifted with leadership ability, he is likely a self-starter who is focused on making his own future. With a fourth quadrant dominate chart, this native is focused on how his efforts will impact the world. Jupiter transiting the native’s 3rd house at the time of his birth indicates a tendency to project an image that everything is fine, even when things are falling apart. He makes many promises and can even make you believe them but often fails to deliver. With the 10th house in Taurus, he is very concerned with how he appears to the world at large. The native is someone who wishes to be perceived as having wealth and power.

With Mars transiting Leo, the native is someone who is driven to have a life of significance. He is terrified of living an ordinary life and being quickly and easily forgotten. This placement gives the native the ambition and drive to generally get what they desire and to endow them with staying power so he is not likely to retreat easily. Nonetheless there is a tendency to start projects and yet fail to finish them. Pluto transiting the native 1st house gives the aura of a brooding nature with an intense stare. This placement of Pluto also grants the native a magnetic personality. He seeks power to overcome his own insecurities.

With Leo on the Ascendant, the native is often perceived as someone who needs a great deal of attention and praise. He can be something of a showman and a drama queen, he needs the drama in order to attract the attention that he craves. The native is driven to possess power and authority over others as well as to develop some kind of creative expression of himself. The native wants to “shine’ in life and will not tolerate anyone or anything that will tarnish that shine. The native is proud, ambitious and has a strong temper who is quick to anger.

With a majority of planets in Air and Cardinal signs the native is likely restless, impatient and domineering and tends towards revealing his frustrations in communicative ways such as speaking and in writing. A lack of planets in Fixed and Earth signs indicates a personality that his impractical, lazy and impatient and who lacks stability and endurance. Taken together this paints a picture of someone who has big dreams and ideas and who is unable to realize them himself due to his own inability to apply himself and stick to his guns.

With his Moon in Sagittarius, the native is naturally optimistic and is emotionally tuned to his own passions and desires. He is incapable of seeing the downside to anything that he feels strongly about. Sagittarius being a mutable sign, the native is uncomfortable with the status-quo. He needs constant change and activity or else he becomes frustrated and restless. He thrives on making grand gestures and bold, controversial statements just to see others react. With Jupiter Trine his Uranus this strategy is often successful for him as he gets rewarded for pushing limits and he is known for landing on his feet.

With the Moon transiting his fifth house, he has an emotional drive to create. This placement gives him a subtle talent for acting and a lack of self control when it comes to expressing himself. With the Moon conjunct his South Node and simultaneously Opposite his North Node, the native likely carries over his emotional nature from a previous life. Until he learns to control his emotions, rather than allow them to control him, the native will be hesitant, irritable and dissatisfied in life.

With Scorpio in the 4th House, the native likely has strong ties to his family that are not emotionally supportive or healthy. The native is apt to have had a loveless childhood (hence his strong desire and search for it in throughout life). The mother was likely secretive and emotionally manipulative, this is a pattern that the native will repeat in his own relationships.

Chiron in the third house also points to a wound centered around communication and how the native expresses himself. The native likely had an early speech impediment of some kind, he began talking and forming words later than expected, had a weak voice or was a low-talker at an early age forcing others around him telling him to speak up and assert himself. Though unintentional, the criticism of those around him especially the parents, left a wound or hurt that affects his communication style today. The native likely had to have some form of special speech therapy, or developed means on his own to overcome or overcompensate for his impediment.

Neptune transiting the native’s third house can indicate some kind of learning disability. He likely has no “book sense” and struggled in school. This placement also grants the native an inability to understand, appreciate, and accept facts. The native is likely susceptible to the power of suggestion and the wiles of his own imagination. The native can be an ineffective communicator and along with Mercury in the 12th house he will have to learn to communicate his thoughts and ideas more clearly and effectively. The native likely finds conversations with others draining and he becomes more impatient as the conversations go on. He will likely need to keep his one-on-one conversations with others brief and space them out so that he can re-charge between meetings.

With Venus in Cancer, the native is sensitive in matters of the heart. The ego may be somewhat underdeveloped and he can sometimes smother his romantic partner because he wants and needs to be loved so badly. With Aquarius in the seventh house, he can be dominant and controlling in his relationships so he may try to force his partner to love him in the way that he needs to be loved; or to show their love for him in ways that may not be natural to his partner.

With Venus transiting the 12th house he fears losing his identity in his relationship. He cannot abide a partner who gets more attention, praise, or who has more status that he himself has. Due to the fact that he needs attention, and affection so badly he will tend to make sacrifices or concessions in his romantic relationship so long as these conditions are not made generally known to others. For this reason, he can sometimes be taken advantage of in terms of his romantic and sexual relationships. Neptune transiting Libra tends to make the native to constantly be on the lookout for the perfect lover or spouse, which in and of itself is futile as there is no such thing as the perfect lover. The native desires instant intimacy and perfection without putting the work in that develops and strengthens long term relationships.

With Mars in the first house, the native is driven to appear as someone who is masculine, virile, powerful and a great lover. The native becomes bored easily with his lover and or romantic partners, especially if they do not feed his ego and desire to keep up the appearance of himself as a masculine and virile lover. Afterwards, he can become impulsive, aggressive, and rude to his ex-lovers.

The ruler of his 5th house transiting the 3rd house would indicate that the native’s children will likely be intelligent and have good communication skills. The native’s children may become successful or well-known in some creative enterprise but will change jobs frequently until they find their niche. With Sagittarius, a barren sign, in the 5th house, the native may adopt or otherwise raise children that are not his own biologically. The Moon transiting the native’s fifth house is often an indicator of an unhealthy attachment to the native’s children or children in general.

In terms of friendships, the native likes to surround himself with people who are original, unconventional and unique. He has a diverse social circle but very few close friends. The naive has a natural ability for attractive friends or forming relationships that support him in and assist him in achieving his goals of having wealth and power. The native is able to rile up and charm crowds but often fails to connect with them. He can sometimes be friends with everyone but a friend to no one. He is as quick to end friendships as he is to form them.

In terms of career, the native has Taurus in the tenth house which indicates a career involved in finance and the arts. However, the native will have to love his job or career in order to have any success at what he does. Doing otherwise will rob the native of his energy and vital life force. With Venus, the ruler of his tenth house, in the twelfth house the native will be driven to build up his reputation and his achievements (no matter how great or small) so as to be recognized by others. However, such recognition or fame may prove to be the native’s own undoing. The native is best suited for any work that involves supporting those in power by working to help others behind the scenes.

Book Review: Horoscope: The Astrology Murders

Author: Georgina Frontier

Pages: 320

Description: Dr. Kelly Elizabeth York has spent her life helping people solve their problems. A celebrity astrologer and psychologist with a devoted following, she now finds herself in the unlikely and terrifying position of helping the police and the FBI determine the identity of a serial killer—who just may be targeting her. No matter how careful she is, Kelly knows that she will have to confront darkness, an energy so black it could challenge everything she believes in.

My Review

A very good mystery with a smattering of astrology thrown in for those who speak the language of the stars. However, you really don't need to know anything about astrology to read this book. The central mystery drew me in quickly and the final twist left me wanting more.

It's a shame that the author died before she wrote any more books, this is a universe that I would have loved to have revisited again in future installments. There is some hope, however, as Georgina Frontiere left outlines for future story lines should the family / publisher find a good ghostwriter and editor to continue the series. If you like a well-crafted,  intelligent mystery / suspense story, then this is the book for you.

The Astrology of Celebrity Big Brother 2

The latest season of Celebrity Big Brother premiered last night and I thought it would be a great experiment in Sun Sign astrology to see how these archetypes interact with one another.  Below is a list of the contestants, their sign, their element, their quality, and the archetype associated with their Sun Sign.

The Cast

The Breakdown

Fire       3  Cardinal 2          Ari 0 Leo 3        Sag 0
Earth    4     Fixed 5         Tau 2 Vir 1        Cap 1
Air        2   Mutable 5       Gem 2 Lib 0        Aqu 0
Water   3                                  Can 1 Sco 0 Pis 2

Predictions

An analysis of past winners of Big Brother (seasons 1-20, excluding celebrity big brother 1) indicate that the majority of the winners have been Cancers (4), Water signs (9), and Cardinal Signs (8) With this in mind, the players to watch are
  • Natalie Eva Marie (Cancer, Water, Cardinal) --- evicted day 24
  • Tamar Braxton (Water) --- WINNER (by a unanimous vote)
  • Kato Kaelin (Water) --- evicted day 20
  • Anthony Scaramucci (Cardinal)  --- fake guest, left day 6
Statistically speaking, in terms of astrology, it seems that Natalie Eva Maria is most likely to be the winner of Celebrity Big Brother Two. However, with the season only starting, this remains to be seen. I'll be tuning in each episode and will update this blog as the season develops.

Incidentally, while researching this blog post I found that contestant Ricky Williams is a practicing astrologer himself!

Full Moon in Leo

Full Moon in Leo

The Full Moon in Leo takes places on January 20th at 7:53 PM (Pacific).  A Full Moon occurs when the Sun and Moon occupy the same degree of opposite signs of the zodiac.  As you can see from the chart above, the Moon is at zero degrees Leo and the Sun is at zero degrees Aquarius forming an opposition creating a dynamic of challenging one another; something is being split or divided.

This also being a Lunar Eclipse, the effects are pretty much the same but only stronger. However, as the eclipse subsides the opportunity for healing and balance will return. The Lunar Eclipse acts like a reset button on our emotions.

The Big Picture

Leo is a proud, possessive, and territorial sign; while Aquarius is detached and altruistic.  So we have a dynamic here of Me vs. Them or what I want in opposition to what we need.  Full Moons are thought to bring completion or endings and with the possessiveness of that Leo energy at play here this can sometimes feel like someone is taking something away from us, or depriving us of something.

We can see this play out in politics with Donald Trump stumping for his wall (what I want) and congress wanting to reopen the government (what we need) . There is a clear split or division here. Nancy Pelosi (Aries) un-invites Donald Trump (Gemini) from delivering his State of the Union. In turn, Donald Trump prevents Nancy Pelosi from traveling to Afghanistan with neither side showing any signs of backing down. With Mars (the ruler of Aries) in Nancy's sun sign right now she has the strength, drive, and energy to stand up to the President.

We can see this pattern in what occurred in Washington D.C. when a youth wearing a MAGA hat (proud, arrogant - what I want) disrespected an elder native (detached, altruistic  - what we need) at an Indigenous People's March.

This is a pattern we can see play out or a large scale by watching the news, paying attention to what is going on on social media and in the lives of our family and friends; or on a small scale by examining our own natal charts to see where the Full Moon is taking place there.

The Personal Touch

To understand how the Full Moon in Leo affects us an individuals we need to see where Zero Degrees Leo is in our own natal charts.  For example, zero degrees Leo in my natal chart is on the cusp of the 10th House, which is known as the public sector of our charts. The 10th house rules over our reputation and public standing. Across from the 10th house, is the 4th house which rules over our private life and home.

Since the Full Moon brings completion and endings, the full moon in my 10th house could herald some kind of public embarrassment or receiving negative attention from the public. With the 10th house vs 4th house dynamic at play, I may feel a divide between my public and private aspects of my life.

Where does zero degrees Leo fall in your chart?

How to Read an Ephemeris

HOW TO READ AN EPHEMERIS

Picture
What is an Ephemeris?

An ephemeris is defined as “a table or data file giving the calculated positions of a celestial object at regular intervals throughout a given time period.”They are used by astrologers to track and pinpoint the movement of the planets so that they can determine where they are located on any given day.

Perhaps the most well known ephemeris is The New American Ephemeris for the 21st Century, which covers the year 2000 to 2100. However, some folks may find it somewhat expensive and if you are using the ephemeris to erect birth charts the old fashioned way, as opposed to a computer program,  it will not be usable for those years prior to the year 2000. In these cases, the ephemeris is an invaluable tool used in predictive astrology. With it can you check aspects between transit planets and the placement of your birth planets; or quickly scan the tables to see when a planet changes signs, turns retrograde or moves direct. Typically it will also give the dates of solar and lunar eclipses and they signs in which they occur.

The times and dates given in this ephemeris are calculated for Midnight UT (Universal Time) therefore, depending on where you are, you will have to convert the times to your location. For instance:

If you are in the            then Subtract

  • Eastern Time Zone             5 hours
  • Central Time Zone              6 hours
  • Mountain Time Zone           7 hours
  • Pacific Time Zone               8 hours

However, you would subtract one hour less during  During Daylight Saving Time.

For those who may not quite be ready to invest in such a tome, there are alternatives. For instance, you may purchase a smaller book such such as Llewellyn Astrological Pocket Planner which is a daily ephemeris and aspectarian for any given year. Unlike the ephemeris mentioned above, the pocket planner is only good for one year and the times are given in both Eastern and Pacific time.

If you have a smartphone, you can purchase iPhemeris from the app store. This app has the benefit of being able to use it in perpetuity and you can set the time to your individual location eliminating the need to convert time.

Finally, you can find ephemeris tables online with a simple google search.  However, these are often set to Universal Time (UT) which will, again, require you to convert the times given to your location.

The Anatomy of an Ephemeris

For the purpose of this article, we will be using the New American Ephemeris for the 21st Century. The image below is for September 2018
Picture
Picture
On the top row we see the day of the month, sidereal time, and then the symbols for the planets beginning with the Sun and ending with Pluto.  The positions for the Moon are given for both midnight and noon and next to this is the position for the North Node. The columns show the position of each of the planets at midnight each day in degrees, minutes, and seconds. For example, if we look at the table above we see that at midnight on September 1st the Sun was at 8 degrees, 31 minutes, 11 seconds of Scorpio.

The shaded areas in each column indicate planets that are in retrograde. For example, looking at the chart above we see that Saturn starts off the month retrograde in 2 degrees, 34 minutes, 0 seconds of Capricorn. It turns direct sometime between midnight on September 5th and midnight September 6th. In order to determine the exact time, we can look to the bottom of the page for a little box on the left labeled Astro Data. The top portion is for the month of September and the bottom portion is for October. Again, looking at the second line of the top portion, we see the symbol for Saturn and a capital D followed by 6  11:08. This means that Saturn turns direct on 9/6/18 at 11:08 AM UT. Since I live in the Pacific Northwest, I would subtract 7 hours to determine what time Saturn turns direct where I am. Therefore Saturn will turn direct on 9/6/18 at 4:08 AM where I live.

In addition to the Astro Date Table, there are other tables at the bottom of the page. From left to right they are: Astro Date, Planet Ingress, Last Aspect (September), Planet Ingress, Last Aspect (October), Phases and Eclipses, and Astro Data again.

Picture

These tables provide a plethora of information.  For example, the Planet Ingress indicates the date and time a planet enters a new sign.  Let us take Mercury for example. Mercury starts out the month in 21 degrees Leo and remains there until 9/7 where it is is then in Virgo. Since these times are for Midnight, Mercury left Leo and entered Virgo sometime in that 12 hour period. If we want to know exactly when he changes signs we look to thePlanet Ingress section of the ephemeris. Again the top portion is for September and the bottom portion is for October.  Looking at this section we see that Mercury enters Virgo on 9/6/18 at 2:39 am (UT). Again, since I live in the Pacific Northwest I would subtract 7 hours to determine when this occurred in my time zone, which translates to 7:39 PM on 9/5/18.

Now let us say I want to know when and where the New Moon will occur in September. I look to the Phases and Eclipses section of the ephemeris. I look to the top portion for September and I see the symbol for the new moon and it occurs 9/9/18 at 18:01 in 17 degrees Virgo, which converts to 11:01 AM in the Pacific Northwest where I currently live.

Finally, the Last Aspect / Ingress area of the chart is for determining when the moon is Void-of-Course.  The Moon is said to be void of course when it makes its last major aspect to another planet before entering a new sign.  It is believed that anything undertaken during the moon void of course will not bear fruit. For example, during such a time folks will refrain from making any major decisions, submit resumes, take action against enemies, make large purchases, start a new project or job, etc.. Instead, these are times of prayer, devotion, meditation, journaling, and introspection.

Looking at the bottom of the ephemeris the Last Aspect / Ingress section on the left is for September and the one of the right is for October. We see that the first Void-of-Course moon for September will occur on 9/2/18 between 5:58 am and 8:02 am UTC.

The Ephemeris and You

Once you are familiar with how to read an ephemeris, you can being to see how this information relates to your own chart by tracking your transits.

Best Days January 2019

January 2019 Best Days

The Best Days was a feature in many old almanacs and gave the optimal times for performing such tasks as weaning a baby, pulling teeth, or planting by the signs.  Here I have taken this concept and applied it to the folk magic tradition of Hoodoo and given the best days for various magical endeavors. They are:

  • Love & Romance             6-8, 16, 17, 20, 21, 24, 25
  • Crown of Success            4-8, 14-17, 22, 23, 31
  • Sex & Sexuality               1, 20, 21, 24-28
  • Cleansing                         1, 14-15, 22, 23
  • Hotfooting                       1, 9-13, 18, 19, 26, 28
  • Unblocking                      2, 3, 12, 13, 29, 30
