New Moon in Taurus

New Moon in Taurus
5/4/19 3:45 PM (Pacific)
Natural Chart / Whole Houses

A New Moon occurs when both the Sun and the Moon simultaneously occupy the same degree of the same sign in the zodiac. As you can see from the above chart, the Sun and Moon both occupy 14 Degrees Taurus on 3/5/19 at 3:45 PM making this a New Moon.

The Moon Represents What is Happening

Occurring approximately once every 28 1/2 days, new moons denote the end of one cycle and the beginning of a new cycle. The New Moon, as it's name implies brings something new into your life. It can be a person, an opportunity, a thought, or an idea. New Moons are a great time to initiate any kind of change or to begin attracting anything that is needed or wanted.   Due to the fact that the moon is associated with our emotions, this is often seen as a new emotional cycle.
Some keywords associated with the moon include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • "I Feel"
  • emotions
  • feelings
  • family
  • change
  • instincts
  • reflection
  • imagination
  • subconscious
  • nurturing

Taurus Represents How it is Happening

The Astrological Sign in which the New Moon occurs can indicate how this emotional renewal may express itself. Some keywords associated with Taurus include:

  •  "I Have"
  • patient
  • consistent
  • predictable
  • steady
  • materialistic
  • passive
  • dependable
  •  comfort
  • value

The Moon in Taurus

A better way to understand the Moon in Taurus is to put the key words side by side and blend them.

                                                The Moon                       Taurus

                                                "I Feel"                            "I Have"
                                                emotions                           patient
                                                feelings                            consistent
                                                family                              predictable
                                                change                             steady
                                                instincts                           materialistic
                                                reflection                          passive
                                                imagination                      dependable
                                                subconscious                    comfort
                                                nurturing                          value

With the Moon in Taurus, people are apt to have more patience, to feel more stable, and to be more consistent. Taurus is ruled by Venus, the planet of love, beauty and comfort so people are likely to engage in activities that bring them satisfaction and pleasure. This is a good time to do anything that requires patience and determination and yet you may find it difficult to step out of your comfort zone in any significant way.

The House is Where it Happens

The Astrological House in which the New Moon occurs in your Natal Chart gives an indication of the area of life activated by the New Moon and where you can expect to see the energy of the New Moon in Aquarius to play out. Since the February New Moon occurs in 15 degrees Aquarius, you would look at your Natal, or Birth Chart to ascertain in what House 15 degrees Aquarius occurs.
The Twelve Houses of Life

  1. The self, ego, appearance, initiative, leadership, fresh starts and new beginnings.
  2. Money and material matters.  Your physical environment, income, money, and your sense of self-esteem.
  3. Communication in all its forms (thinking, writing, speaking, etc... ) as well as siblings, local travel, teachers and community events.
  4. Home, privacy, your basic sense of security, your mother, children, and your own ability to nurture others.
  5. Creative expression, drama, attention, love, and romance.
  6. Health and service to others. Your routine, diet, exercise and helpfulness to others.
  7. Marriage, partnerships, and relationships of all kinds.  Contracts, business deals, etc...
  8. Birth, death, sex, other people's money and property.
  9. Expansion, the higher mind, foreign matters (languages, cultures, travel) luck, adventure, risk, philosophy, ethics and morals.
  10. The public, fame, honors, reputation, awards, boundaries, rules, discipline, authority, the father.
  11. Groups of people such as friends and associations, networking, social justice.  Originality, sudden unexpected events, invention, surprises, and all things futuristic.
  12. Endings. Completion, tying up loose ends, old age, karma, making amends, and the afterlife. Imagination, creativity, poetry, and the subconscious mind.

A Practical Example

New Moon in Taurus and the 7th House

The Moon (I feel) in Taurus (I Have) in the 7th House of marriage, agreements, and partnerships can bring new thoughts and feelings about relationships of all kinds. You may feel confident about your ability to attract a new relationship (business or personal), though you are not likely to go out on a limb to make it happen for yourself.

May Horoscopes 2019

Aries- Your focus this  month is on your personal values and those things which you value. You identify with the material things you possess and see them as a symbol of your status or position in life. Your possessions, the amount of money you have in the bank, the state of your home, the make and model of your car... do they really define you or are you defined by those intangible values called loyalty, trust, and honesty to name a few?

Taurus- You are likely to experience a sense of renewal and revitalization this month. However, this will be preceding by an ongoing period of positive self-centeredness (what Dr. Martello called psysho-selfism) that others may misconstrue as unapologetic selfishness. For this reason you may find it difficult to work with others too closely this month. Now is the time for you to focus on your personal needs and goals and devise a spiritual plan for achieving them.

Gemini- This month will likely be marked by a period of deep introspection. You will find yourself exploring the deeper, more hidden parts of your own psyche in an attempt to bring illumination and a greater understanding of who you are.  You may confront aspects of yourself that no longer serve you and challenge yourself to move past them. This will be a time of completion and endings in which you shed your ego and destroy negative patterns of thought and behavior so that you can regenerate.

Cancer- Friendships and group related activities come to bear this month.  Your role in the groups you belong to come under your scrutiny now as well as their purpose and function in your life.  You find yourself questioning what you are getting out of these associations or if you are contributing your own fair share.  The best way to figure this out is by active participation in common activities. It is important for you now to be a part of the group in which your individuality is also well established.

Leo-  You're focused on your career and reputation this month and you want both to shine. This is a good time for examining what drives you in terms of the outer-world, what your goals and aspirations in life are as well as how close or even how far you are from achieving them. You could be charged with more authority this month and with added responsibility on your shoulders comes added scrutiny and observation by your superiors. It is important for your own advancement that you do well.

Virgo- You're waxing philosophical this month and want to broaden your horizons in many ways. This will entail you stepping out of your comfort zone to experience people, places and things with which you are not familiar. Breaking out of your usual routine brings unique and beneficial opportunities. You absorb everything now and you find yourself with a powerful thirst for knowledge as well as a strong desire for meaningful experiences. The study of new subjects as well as travel is favored at this time.

Libra- You're more reflective this month and are focused on transforming some aspect of your life in a significant and meaningful way.  You may find yourself to be more moody and emotional as you try to figure out both what you want to change and how you want to change it.  Your emotional pendulum can swing towards the extremes and you tend to keep things to yourself. You will also find that you excel at any type of research or information gathering.

Scorpio- You are all about relationships this month and you are poised to learn a great deal about yourself and the world that you live in through your relationships to the other people in your life.  Your focus is on the other in your life this month and you are concerned with how you work with your partners of all kinds (business or personal). You generally benefit from the relationships in your life and should find yourself becoming closer to others this month.

Sagittarius- You identify more with the work that you do this month. You're not interested in fun or fantasy and prefer to throw yourself into your work. You are more organized at this time and can deal with the small details of any matter.  For this reason you can focus on completing several small projects rather than one big one.  Successfully accomplishing needed tasks makes you feel good about yourself and the life that you have.

Capricorn- You experience a greater sense of freedom and happiness than you have in a long time this month.  You aren't overly concerned with work, responsibilities, or other obligations right now.  You just want to have fun and you want you want to have it now. You are warmer, more friendly, and are enthusiastic about life and people now.  The world is one big stage for you this month and you have the starring role in the picture of the year. Enjoy your time in the sun!

Aquarius- You are more of a homebody this month and issue of home and family occupu your attention and interest.  You're not interested in going out or doing things away from home but rather prefer quiet evenings at home doing things you enjoy or spending time with your family and other loved one.  This is also a good time to re-arrange, re-model, or renovate your home so that your home and surroundings are more of a sanctuary for you.

Pisces-  You're more mentally active and alert now.  Your mind overflows with thoughts and ideas, you are eager to talk about and others are eager to listen to what you have to say.  For this reason, you find yourself being more social for the next four weeks or so and you are able to network with others and make those connections that are so important for having success in life. This is a good period for collecting and analyzing data and information to be used or implemented later.

Venus in Aries

Venus in Aries
4/20/19 9:11 am Pacific
Natural Chart / Whole Houses

Venus (I Love)

In a chart, Venus indicates what you are attracted to and what you attract to yourself.  Venus rules Libra and Taurus; is in detriment in Aries and Scorpio, is exalted in Pisces, and falls in Virgo.
Keywords: adaptable, harmony, affectionate, artistic, beauty, attraction, charm, connection, femininity, glamour, intimacy, love, pleasure, seduction, social ease and vanity.

Aries (I AM)

Aries is a Fire / Cardinal / Masculine (active) Sign ruled by Mars.
Keywords: assertive, strong, initiative, energy, impatient, headstrong, adventure, fearless, leader, pioneer, and eager.

Venus in Aries (General)

When Venus is in Aries, emotions expressed more aggressively so people are generally more affectionate and extravagant. However, Venus is said to be in detriment in Aries (see essential dignity) that is, its energy is diminished. So whereas people are more affectionate they may not be so lucky in the area of love and romance.

How Venus in Aries Affects You
A planet, such as Venus, describes a specific type of energy. In the case of Venus it is the energy of love. The sign that it occupies indicates how that energy manifests. Venus in Aries can manifest as aggressive and fearless expressions of love and attraction. You can either be the aggressor or the object of such assertiveness.  Finally the house that the planet transits will determine where this energy will manifest in your life. In order to determine the house that Venus in Aries is transiting you look at your birth chart and determine what house aligns with Aries. For example.
  • If your rising sign is Aries, Aries is your 1st  House
  • If your rising sign is Taurus, Aries is your 12th House
  • If your rising sign is Gemini, Aries is your 11th House
  • If your rising sign is Cancer, Aries is your 10th House
  • If your rising sign is Leo, Aries is your 9th House
  • If your rising sign is Virgo, Aries is your 8th House
  • If your rising sign is Libra, Aries is your 7th House
  • If your rising sign is Scorpio, Aries is your 6th House
  • If your rising sign is Sagittarius, Aries is your 5th House
  • If your rising sign is Capricorn, Aries is your 4th House
  • If your rising sign is Aquarius, Aries is your 3rd House
  • If your rising sign is Pisces, Aries is your 2nd House

Example

Venus in Aries and the 6th House

Venus (I Love) in Aries (I AM) in the 6th house of health and work can manifest as assertive expressions of love and attraction and this would likely take place in your workplace. Again, you could be the aggressor or the object of another person's interest. You could meet someone through your work or it could be a co-worker. However, with Venus being in detriment in Aries things could just be off or it could not be the right time and so things are not likely to work out.

The sixth house is naturally aligned with Virgo and so you will not fall for anyone too easily. You may adopt the same attitude towards romantic relationships that you take to finding a job.  You may find yourself being critical of anyone who shows interest in you, assessing them to determine that they pass your inspection and meet your criteria.

Where will Venus in Aries transit in your chart and how will it manifest for you?

Sun in Taurus

Sun in Taurus
4/20/19  1:55 Am Pacific
Natural Chart / Whole Houses

The Sun (I AM)
In a chart, the Sun indicates where you shine. It represents your own ego as well as your approach to self expression and how you realize your self. The Sun rules Leo; is in detriment in Aquarius; exaltation in Aries; and fall in Libra.

Keywords: authority, confidence, creativity, power, ego, father, hope, vitality, potential, dignity, joy, generosity, extravagance, pride, individuality, recognition.

Taurus (I Have)

Taurus is an Earth / Fixed / Passive (Feminine) sign Ruled by Venus.

Keywords: patient, consistency, predictable, steady, materialistic, passive, dependable, comfort, value, sensual, and laid back.

Sun in Taurus (General)

When the Sun is in Taurus, people are generally more patient and less inclined to change. Taurus is a fixed sign, so people generally like things to stay the way they are. They are satisfied with the status quo and make the most of what they have.  People are likely to be more peace-loving and kind.

How the Sun in Taurus Affects You

A planet, such as the Sun, describes a specific type of energy. In the case of the Sun it is the energy of self or ego.  The sign that it occupies indicates how that energy manifests. The Sun in Taurus will manifest as patient, kind, and steadfast.  Finally the house that the planet transits will determine where this energy will manifest in your life.  In order to determine the house that the Sun in Taurus is transiting you look at your birth chart and determine what house aligns with Taurus. For example.

  • If your rising sign is Aries, Taurus is your 2nd House.
  • If your rising sign is Taurus, Taurus is your 1st House.
  • If your rising sign is Gemini, Taurus is your 12th House.
  • If your rising sign is Cancer, Taurus is your 11th House.
  • If your rising sign is Leo, Taurus is your 10th House.
  • If your rising sign is Virgo, Taurus is your 9th House.
  • If your rising sign is Libra, Taurus is your 8th House.
  • If your rising sign is Scorpio, Taurus is your 7th House.
  • If your rising sign is Sagittarius, Taurus is your 6th House.
  • If your rising sign is Capricorn, Taurus is your 5th House.
  • If your rising sign is Aquarius, Taurus is your 4th House.
  • If your rising sign is Pisces, Taurus is your 3rd House.

Example

The Sun + Taurus + 7th House

The Sun (I am) in Taurus (I Have) in the 7th house of relationship will manifest as patient, kind, and steadfast feelings or attitudes regarding your relationship. While we are inclined to interpret this in terms or romantic or sexual relationships, the 7th house rules relationships of all kind.

With the Sun in Taurus and the 7th house you are satisfied with the state of your relationships and they should be going well. If not, you should see them improve and in the main time you will take a more laid back and passive position in regards to any problems that arise.  You are happy with the state of your relationships and wish to maintain this state of satisfaction.

How to Use Your Lunar Return Chart

"This is likely to be, guard against it, if it is bad. If it is good, make the most of it."

Evangeline Adams

In my last blog entry, I described the Lunar Return Chart, what it is, how to calculate it, and how to interpret it. In this article, I would like to describe how to use your lunar return chart in your daily life. At the beginning of the year, I used astro.com to print all my charts for 2019 including my solar return, lunar returns, venus return and mars return charts and placed this in my Astrology Journal.

At least a week before a Lunar Return Chart activates, I remove it from the journal and spend some time meditating on the chart and making my notes on the chart itself (see image at left).

If you study this image closely, you'll see that my notes only reflect the placements in the Lunar Return itself and not my natal chart. The reason for this is that I have studied my natal chart for years. I know my natal placements and their degrees by heart and there isn't a lot of room to write on the paper so I use that space for writing about the Lunar Return Chart itself. If you wish to keep more detailed notes, you may write them up on an additional piece of paper and keep this in your Astrology Journal.

On the reverse side of the page, I have notes about the New and Full Moons that fall within the 28 days this chart is active. For example, the Lunar Return in the image above began on 4/6/19 @ 5:42 am. On the reverse of this page I have my notes about the New Moon which occurred on 4/5/19 in my 6th house and the Full Moon which will occur on 4/19/19 in my 12th House.

In addition, I have space reserved on the reverse side of this page for taking notes about things that occurred that the Lunar Return Chart predicted as well as notes about my daily transits. For instance, transit Neptune at 17 degrees Pisces in the first house is applying an opposition to my natal Sun in 22 degrees Virgo in the 11th (not pictured). Due to the fact that Neptune moves slowly through the zodiac going retrograde (backwards) from time to time, this is a transit that will last for approximately 2 years.  This is an aspect wherein relationships become more confusing, the native (me) may struggle with trust issues, and others may mislead him with false promises.

I find this interesting because, I have Saturn in the 11th house in my LR chart which can indicate the end of a superficial relationship and a stellium of planets in the first house can be indicative of being more self-reliant and presenting a more "self-ish" image to others in the interest of self-care and self-maintenance; Neptune, the chart ruler in the LR in the first house and with Pisces rising all points to isolating myself from others and drawing more into self---- all things which have occurred since my Lunar Return chart activated on 4/6/19.

The day before a Lunar Return Chart activates, I take it out of the "future charts" section of my astrology journal and read over my notes. I usually do this in my bedroom where it is more calm and serene and I keep a spirit altar. I usually light some candles and incense and spend some time meditating on the chart, reading over my notes so I know what to expect, and making note of new insights (if any). When I am done, I will place the chart under a candle and leave it there until the chart activates at the precise time the moon returns to 29 degrees Aries just as it was at my time of birth.

The next day, studying the Lunar Return Chart becomes a part of my daily routine.  I generally wake up early enough in the morning to exercise and then I have about 30 minutes before I have to get in the shower and get ready for work. During that 30 minutes, I sit at my desk, drink a glass of water to get hydrated,  and listen to the radio on my laptop. I also pull up my daily transits in a separate browser window. I have my current Solar Return attached to a bulletin board on the wall over my desk for quick reference. I quickly compare the daily transits to my Natal Chart and my Solar Return Chart. I should also note that I have AstroGold on my iPhone and keep my Natal Chart on a bi-wheel with my transits which I can refresh at anytime at the touch of a button for quick reference. So if I don't have time to study my transits in the morning I can study them on my iPhone during my breaks or any other various times throughout the day such as sitting in the waiting area while getting my oil changed.

I don't really compare the daily transits to the Lunar Return the first few days after the LR chart activates because the planets are essentially in the same place and have not moved enough to change anything significantly unless a planet changes signs/houses or moves closer to another point in the Natal Chart forming an aspect between the LR and the Natal Chart. Even then, I typically see an aspect forming before it actually starts applying, is exact, or is separating.

When I leave for work, the LR chart is folded and placed in my back pocket where I can keep it near me. I have a clerical job in an office and my co-workers are open minded about my beliefs and practices. My current solar return is my background image on my computer at work and I even have a small success and prosperity altar on my desk! For the most part, the LR chart stays in my pocket but sometimes I may unfold it and place it on my desk within my sight. However, this usually occurs when something significant happens in my life and I look for it in my chart and I may flip the chart over and make a note of what occurred and a quick reference to the placement, aspect, or transit that I feel is indicative of what occurred.

In an attempt to actively use my chart in a positive manner, I tend to try to manifest the good things indicated in my chart while avoiding or preventing the negative things. For instance, in the Lunar Return Chart above, you can see that I have Pisces Rising with Mercury in the first house. Pisces falls in the 5th house in my natal chart. The fifth house rules love, children and creativity (including hobbies) to name a few things. So these are areas that will be of importance to me this month. With Mercury in the 1st house of my LR chart and the 5th House of my Natal Chart, this would indicate taking a mental approach to life, having many thoughts and ideas (mercury in the first house) which I may express in the form of writing (mercury in the 5th house of hobbies). Of course with Pisces rising (and Neptune in the 1st House), I would be writing about things of a mysterious or occult nature in an attempt to make sense of them.

On the flip side, you'll see that I have the moon in the second house which can indicate emotional spending, so this is something I am really wary about right now. I am avoiding making any large purchases and stop to ask myself, is this something I need or is this something I want? If I need it can I afford it? If I simply want it, why do I want it? Would purchasing this create a hardship for me? In fact, I just realized as I am writing this blog entry that I was bored last night and started shopping for a new ipad on ebay--- which I ultimately did not buy.

Of course some things are inevitable no matter how much we try to avoid or mitigate them because they are necessary for our own personal growth and soul evolvement.... but know about them ahead of time can help soften the blow.

When the chart expires, (for lack of a better word) and the next Lunar Return Chart activates that old chart is filed away in my astrology journal under "past charts" and the whole process starts over with the new lunar return chart. Over time, these charts become an invaluable reference for your study and practice of astrology.  So the next time you or someone you know has the same or similar placements, aspects, etc... you'll have a better idea of how it will manifest.

How do you use your Lunar Return Chart to live your best life?

Your Lunar Return: A Step-by-Step Guide

What is a Lunar Return Chart?

A Lunar Return Chart is a type of astrological chart used in the art of astrological prediction. It is drawn up for the exact moment the transiting Moon reaches the same degree that it occupied at the time of your birth.  For example if at the time of your birth, the moon was in 17 degrees Virgo then your lunar return will occur when the moon returns to 17 degrees Virgo again. This is a cycle that will repeat itself roughly once every 28 1/2 days.

Location, Location, Location

It is important to keep in mind that people don't always remain in the same place that they were born. Take myself for example. I was born in South Carolina but have resided in Washington state for the past 13 years. Therefore, when calculating your Lunar Return, you also have to keep in mind your present location or the location you plan to be at the time of your Lunar Return.   For instance, let us say that my Lunar Return will occur on May 8th and I planned to go on vacation to Myrtle Beach  that week. I look at my calendar and see that I actually will be in Myrtle Beach at the time of my Lunar Return --- so my lunar return chart will be calculated for that location.

What Does a Lunar Return Chart Signify?

The Lunar Return Chart will give an indication of your emotional outlook for the month and can point to events that may transpire or play themselves out over the course of the month in question. While some transits, such as the outer planets  may carry over from month to month the lunar return is thought to be valid for one month.

Erecting the Chart(s)

Please note that for the purpose of this blog entry, I am using the birth data of actor Chris Evans. First we must begin with the birth chart because the Lunar Return is always read against the backdrop of the birth, or natal chart.   Below, please find Chris natal chart.

As you can see, his Sun Sign is Gemini, his Moon Sign is Scorpio and his Rising Sign is Scorpio.  Specifically, his Moon is in 12 degrees Scorpio. So his Lunar Return will occur each month when the moon return to 12 degrees Scorpio.  His next Lunar Return will occur on April 20th, 2019 at 4:56 am. Since Chris is an actor and his profession requires him to travel a great bit I have no idea where he will be on 4/20, so for the purpose of this blog entry I have set his Lunar Return to the city of his birth which is Boston MA.

When combined on a bi-wheel the chart appears as below with the inner wheel being the birth chart and the outer wheel being the lunar return chart.

Interpreting the Lunar Return: A Step by Step Guide

The first thing I look at is the rising sign, or ascendant, in the Lunar Return Chart (LR). The Ascendant represents the mask you wear, how you are perceived by others, etc...despite your Sun Sign (the essence of who you are).

As you can see from the above chart, Chris has Aries Rising in his LR.  We know that his Sun Sign is Gemini.  What this tells me is that whereas Chris is normally energetic, curious,  and vacillating (natal sun in Gemini) his energy this month will be more forceful, direct, and assertive (Aries rising). He may even use some of this focus and energy to start a new project (Aries rules beginnings).

Because Chris is an actor who's profession requires him to change his appearance from time to time, he may even find himself working on a project that changes his appearance from his usual Gemini body type to that of something more Aries like.  Geminis are generally tall, strong, and energetic with a high forehead and long, straight nose. Aries men, however,  are generally more rugged with a prominent chin or mouth. They sometimes, but not always, have some type of mark such as a scar or mole on their face.

The next thing I look at is what house does the Ascendant fall in the birth chart. Chris has Aries in the 6th house in his birth chart. This tells me that issues of work, health, and his daily routine will be major factors in his life this month.

Next, we look at the chart ruler. The Chart Ruler is the planet that rules the Ascendant in any chart. Again, Chris has Aries rising in his LR which is ruled by Mars. Mars is in the 3rd House in his LR. This house rules communication, short journeys, and his near environment.

At this point we can start to put together some of the information we have gathered thus far. For example, you might say something along the lines of the following:

"Your normally divided energy comes more into focus this month as you present yourself as more assertive, adventurous, and decisive.  You may stray from your usual routines and try things that are new and different. You may initiate a new project in your near environment which will require several short trips and more than your usual amount of communication with others such as trading more calls and emails, and taking more meetings than you normally do."

The next thing I look at are the angles. The angles are a term which refers to the Angular Houses in astrology. The Angular Houses are the 1st, 4th, 7th, and 10th houses.  The Angular Houses are thought to be the most  important houses in astrology.

  • The first house represents your self, your ego, and outlook
  • The fourth house represents your private life.
  • The seventh house represents your relationships.
  • The tenth house represents your public life, reputation, etc...

What I look at is what signs are in these angular houses and if they are occupied by any planets.

In Chris's LR chart, the angles flow with the natural chart, so that he has Aries in the first house, Cancer in the fourth, Libra in the seventh and Capricorn in the tenth. He has Mercury and Chiron in the first house and Pluto and Saturn in the tenth house. He has the North Node in the 4th house, although I would not consider it when interpreting his LR, and he has no planets in his 7th House.

A quick interpretation of his angles are as follows

  • First House - Aries. The native comes across as forceful, assertive, adventurous, and eager.
  • Fourth House- Cancer. The native is very attached to his home and family. He needs roots and traditions from which he draws strength.
  • Seventh House- Libra. The native is open-minded yet careful and discriminating in who he chooses to enter into relationships of all kinds with.  He needs someone who is an equal and may have trouble finding someone who lives up the ideal he holds in his mind.
  • Tenth House- Capricorn.  The native is a hard worker who takes hi career, profession, and reputation very seriously.
Any planets in these houses will be interpreted as being much more powerful than if they were in  the Succedent or Cadent houses. Their energy will carry more weight and their effects will be more powerfully felt.

Then we move on to look at the individual placements of the Personal and Social Planets. The Personal Planets are the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, and Mars. The Social Planets are Jupiter and Saturn.  The Interpersonal, or Generational Planets, are not considered in the Lunar Return because they move so slowly and would not change from month to month.  The Generational Planets would be considered in the Solar Return.

  • The Sun's placement will give an indication of your focus or direction for the month. Whatever house the sun occupies will shine brighter and greater than the other houses.
  • The Moon's placement provides the emotional lens through which you view the world and your environment.
  • Mercury's placement describes your mind and thought processes for the month.  Not only what you are thinking about but how you are thinking.
  • Venus's placement will give an indicate of your attachments. What are you attracted to and who or what is attracted to you.
  • Mar's placement will describe your motivation(s) for the month.  Where and how you your energy will be spent.
  • Jupiter's placement indicates your inspiration. The house that Jupiter occupies will indicate the area of life where you can grow and what inspires you to grow and be better. This is what will help you achieve your goals and aspirations.
  • Saturn's placement represents your obstacles.  Saturn's house will indicate any challenges in your path to be overcome.  This is the area of life that will require discipline on your part.
Of course I would also take into consideration the essential dignity of each planet as well as if they are retrograde or not. For example on April 20th and through August of 2019, Jupiter will be in retrograde and this will color my interpretation of Jupiter in Taurus and the 2nd House in his Lunar Return Chart.

From here I look at the aspects, or relationships, between the planets in the lunar return chart. I personally do not look at all the aspect but simply the closest hard aspect and the closest soft aspect . Hard aspects are the squares and oppositions. They bring challenges and difficulties from which we can grow, learn, and evolve.  Soft aspects are trines and sextiles and they make things flow more easily. Conjunctions are more neutral and are thought to blend and amplify the energies of the two planets concerned.

Looking at the above LR, Chris's closest Soft Aspect is the Sun Trine Jupiter and his closest Hard Aspect is Mercury Square Jupiter.  So it would appear that his personality and charisma will shine through and help him this month but he may struggle with how he exchanges thoughts and ideas with others. Therefore, when dealing with others it is important that he does not trade on his looks, personality, or reputation (even though that is what is going to get his foot in the door) but he needs to be able to voice his ideas, opinions and thoughts in a clear and understandable manner as well as learn with the intent to listen and not to respond.

Finally, I look at the aspects between the planets in the lunar return and the planets in the natal chart. Again, I only look at the closest hard aspect and the closest soft aspect. Since this is a Lunar Return, the Transit Moon will always conjunct the Natal Moon and so this is not an aspect which I take into consideration.

Once we have completed our examination of the chart, we take all the information that we have gleaned from the chart and organize it in a clear, concise, and easy to understand report. This process is known as astrological synthesis.
