Full Moon in Cancer 2020 X 2

Full Moon in Cancer
12/29/20  7:28 PM Pacific
Natural Chart / Whole Houses

A Full Moon occurs when the Sun and the Moon occupy the same degree of opposing signs. As you can see from the chart above the Moon is in 8° Cancer and the Sun is 180° away in 8° Capricorn forming an opposition and making this a Full Moon.

 The Big Picture

An opposition is a type of aspect between two planets in which they are pulling away from one another. In an individuals chart it often feels like someone is doing something to you and you feel powerless to do anything about it. In this natural chart above, the moon is transiting the area of the chart dealing with home, our roots, where you live, your property, and subconscious while the Sun is transiting the part of our chart dealing with status, authority figures, our career, and ambition.... in other words: our private lives vs. public perception.

Whereas New Moons often bring a new beginning or a new opportunity, a Full Moon bring completion and endings.  Cancer is a Cardinal sign, and cardinal signs are the leaders of the zodiac. They have a great deal of energy and enjoy starting things and need a lot of action in their lives or they get bored and restless. A Full Moon in the Cardinal sign of cancer can manifest as endings surrounding the home. This is a good time to finish home projects, or resolving a family matter.  If you have been spending too much time at home or at work, now is also a good time to balance your time and energy between the two.

How to Work with Full Cancer Moon Energy

  • exercise more empathy and compassion
  • try to be less sensitive to criticism
  • allow yourself and others to experience their emotions without judgement
  • understand that feeling (yours or another's) are valid whether you agree or disagree with them.
  • check in with your mother and older, female relatives
  • revisit and heal your past
  • finish up any home projects
  • resolve family matters

The Personal Touch

To better understand how the Full Cancer Moon will manifest for you, you need to examine the houses that 8° Cancer and Capricorn occupy in your Natal or Birth Chart.  The area of life represented by your Cancer house is the area of life where you will feel the need to nurture, while the area of life represented by your Capricorn house is the area of life which may interfere with your ability to nurture your Cancer house. For example, 8° Cancer falls in my 9th house and 8° Capricorn falls in my 3rd house.

Let's break it down....

Full Moon + Cancer + 9th House

I feel the need to nurture and protect my freedom and independence.

VS.

Sun + Capricorn + 3rd House

I am reliable and discipline in my self-expression

Interpretation

Your focus now is on your spirituality and you want the freedom and independence to explore your beliefs and broaden your mind.  You give great consideration to how your beliefs help or hinder your personal, or spiritual growth. You are open to having new and different experiences while still having fun. However, you may not feel that you are able to fully express yourself now due to being confronted by or held back by old modes of thinking and self-expression. In short, while you want to break free and explore new thoughts, ideas and experiences, you may find yourself unable to escape old modes of thinking and self-expression.

Where does the Full Moon in 8° Cancer fall in your chart and how will it manifest for you?

The Astrology of New Beginnings

 The Astrology of New Beginnings

Spiritual Contracts

Its the day after Christmas and New Year's is less than a week away and many people are beginning to think about their goals and intentions for 2021. For this reason I would like to talk to you today about Spiritual Contracts.

When people hear the words spiritual contract, they may think about selling their soul to the devil at the crossroads or making a pact with a demon in exchange for wealth, fame, or power. However, that is not the type of spiritual contract I am speaking about. If you have ever written a wish on a piece of paper and placed it under a fixed candle or tucked it into a mojo bag along with herbs, roots, and other things --- then you have forged a spiritual contract. This contract would be between you and whatever power or entity you petitioned, be it God, a Saint, a Spirit, Ancestor, your Guardian Angel, or just simply the universe.

When you perform such a ritual, you are saying I am going to follow this prescribed rite (the spell) and I am sacrificing this candle, these herbs, my time, and my energy, and in return this spiritual power will make my wish come to pass. That is a contract.

With that in mind, let us draw up a spiritual contract for our goals and intentions in 2021. If you like, you can set the mood by lighting a candle dressed with a condition oil. Presumably your goals and intentions will over the gambit from money to love so instead of using several different oils you might want to use something generic like Special Oil 21 or Planet Oil (this oil encompasses all the energies of the planets in our solar system).

Next, you will write up your contract. For example

                              SPIRITUAL CONTRACT

This contract is entered into and between _____(name)_______ (an individual, the party of the first part) and __________________  (a spirit, the party of the second part). The term of this agreement shall begin on January 1st, 2021 and shall continue until its termination date of December 31st, 2021. The specific terms of this contract are as follows.

In consideration of the mutual promises set forth herein, the party of the first part covenants and agrees that it shall [here you will list your goals]

1.
2.
3.

Furthermore, the party of the second part covenants and agrees to the following stipulations.

    1. Offer support and encouragement in the accomplishment of my goals.
    2. Place people and events in my path that will assist me to successfully accomplish my goals.
    3. Guide my thoughts and actions through my dreams, intuition and strong signs.
This contract shall not be modified in any manner unless in writing and signed by both parties. This document and any attachments hereto constitute the entire agreement between these parties. This contract shall be binding upon the parties and shall be enforced under the laws of the universe.

_____________________                        _____________________
Signature                                    Signature
(Party of the First Part)                    (Party of the Second Part)
_____________________                        _____________________

Date                                         Date

You can copy this contract into a word program, edit it as needed and print it out before hand. However, I suggest that you write in your name and list of goals by hand. When you are done, read over your contract (never sign anything without reading it) and when you are satisfied right your name at the bottom right (the party of the first part) and then you can simply sign an X for the party of the second part.

Next you can place your contract under the candle and leave it there until the candle burns out. When the candle is spent, place your contract in a safe place. Personally, I like to press it in my Bible anywhere it states "and this shall come to pass". Remember to periodically take out your contract to review your goals and intentions, keep them fresh in your mind, and track your progress.

The Great Conjunction: Jupiter & Saturn 2020

The Great Conjunction
Jupiter Conjunct Pluto
12/21/20  8:14 AM

The Great Conjunction

A conjunction is a type of aspect, or relationship between two planets, in which the planets concerned occupy the same degree of the same sign at the same time. The conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn is referred to as a Great Conjunction due to it's rarity in that it occurs once every twenty years. It is also of significance in that the conjunction of these two powerful planets occurs just as they leave the cardinal-earth sign of Capricorn and enter the mutable-air sign of Aquarius. In addition, the conjunction occurs at the critical degree of 0. Planets in the critical degrees of 0 and 29 are thought to be more powerful and carry more weight in the chart.

Jupiter Conjunct Saturn

To better understand the nature of this conjunction, let us first focus on the aspect it's self. A conjunction is an aspect that heralds something new or a renewal.  A conjunction amplifies and blends the energies of the two planets concerned.

In this case, it is Jupiter, the planet of expansion and Saturn, the planet of limitation. So what we have here is a union of opposites - the irresistible force and the immoveable object - which will come together in an explosion of renewed energy, creating something completely new, and will have to figure out how to work together in unison.

When Jupiter conjuncts Saturn it results in ambitious growth, but it is a growth that occurs in a responsible and disciplined manner. People are more optimistic and eager for change, but they also understand that it must come about in through patience and hard work.

The Aquarius Connection

The conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn occurs in the sign of Aquarius and it colors how the aspect can manifest. Aquarius represents the archetype of the activist and humanitarian. It is associated with the groups of like minded people, with the unusual, the unconventional, and the future itself.

So as the planets shift from the cold, reserved, traditional energies of  Capricorn to the more unconventional, original, and altruistic energies of Aquarius, people become more excited and ambitious about humanitarian causes. They want to make the world a better place, but they understand that it can't  and won't happen over night. They understand that in order make a better future, like-minded people need to work together, they need maintain their optimism, and the need to exercise  both patience and discipline.

The House is Where it Happens

Up until now, we are aware that some type of renewal is on the horizon, however, in order to look at what shape or form this change may assume for the individual we need to look to the Natal House in which the conjunction occurs.

The natal house where the Great Conjunction occurs is the area of life where will you feel a powerful urge for growth and expansion that will require you to remain optimistic and to exercise patience and discipline in order to manifest.

Sun in Capricorn 2020

Sun in Capricorn

12/21/20 2:02 AM

Natural Chart / Whole Houses

Sun in Capricorn (General)

The Sun enters Capricorn tonight announcing heralding the Winter Solstice and therefore the beginning of Winter.  Perhaps it should not surprise you, dear reader, then that when the Sun enters Capricorn people become colder - both figuratively and literally. With another year almost behind them, people may feel older, and more responsible. They may settle into a more practical mood or mindset and turn their attention and interest to their financial affairs, set new responsibilities for themselves, and become more determined.

As you can see from the chart above The Sun and Jupiter are about 4 degrees apart and therefore applying a conjunction between the two planets.  The expansive energy of Jupiter amplifies the confidence, creativity, and power of the Sun. For the short time this aspect is active, people may feel more confident and so this is also a good time to start something new or to accept new opportunities and make the best of them.

Where Capricorn falls in your chart is the area of life where the ingress of the Sun in Capricorn will most be felt.

  • If your rising sign is Aries, Capricorn is your 10th House.
  • If your rising sign is Taurus, Capricorn is your 9th House.
  • If your rising sign is Gemini, Capricorn is your 8th House.
  • If your rising sign is Cancer, Capricorn is your 7th House.
  • If your rising sign is Leo, Capricorn is your 6th House.
  • If your rising sign is Virgo, Capricorn is your 5th House.
  • If your rising sign is Libra, Capricorn is your 4th House.
  • If your rising sign is Scorpio, Capricorn is your 3rd House.
  • If your rising sign is Sagittarius, Capricorn is your 2nd House.
  • If your rising sign is Capricorn, Capricorn is your 1st House.
  • If your rising sign is Aquarius, Capricorn is your 12th house.
  • If your rising sign is Pisces, Capricorn is your 11th House.

Example

The Sun + Capricorn + 3rd House

With the Sun in Capricorn and the third house of communication, siblings, and short journeys you become more disciplined and responsible in  the way in which you communicate with others.  Your mind if more active and overflowing with thoughts and ideas and that energy of Capricorn helps you to sort through them in a more systematic and disciplined manner.

The Aspects, or relationship between planets is another dimensions of astrological interpretation that is to be considered. I've already touched upon the aspects in the transit chart above, however, one should also look at the aspects between the planets in the transit chart and those in one's birth chart. For example, The Sun in 0° Capricorn is applying an opposition to Saturn in 3° Cancer.

Saturn is called the Great Teacher and when he touches another point or position in your chart you are presented with a lesson designed to help you grow, mature and evolve. Unfortunately, these lessons often come in the form of some kind of challenge or difficulty that we must overcome. When the Transit Sun makes an opposition to Natal Saturn you experience blockages and obstacles that present a blow to your ego. This is a time to strive for making better decisions an living more responsibly.

Where does Capricorn fall in your chart and how will the ingress of the Sun into Capricorn manifest for you?

Saturn in Aquarius 2020

Saturn in Aquarius

12/16/20   9:04 PM

Natural Chart / Whole Houses

Saturn

Saturn is one of two social planets (the other being Jupiter). Social Planets  are further from the earth and the last ones that can be seen with the naked eye. They represent themes with which we are confronted with in life but which rise above the individual experience.

Saturn takes about 29 ½ years to transit, or move through, all twelve signs in the zodiac. Therefore, it spends about 2 years in each sign. Whenever a planet changes signs, it is felt in the world. Some planets, such as the moon, change signs more often due to the speed at which they travel and may not be as noticeable as a slower moving planet. The slower a planet travels around the sun the more time is stays in one sign and the longer and stronger its influence is felt.

Those folks born around 1991 with Saturn in Aquarius, will be experiencing their first Saturn Return when Saturn reaches the exact degree it occupies in their natal chart. Those born around 1962 will be experiencing their second Saturn Return. These individuals will begin to feel its effects almost as soon as Saturn enters Aquarius for the second time this year, due to the earlier Saturn Retrograde. This is a time when people experiencing their Saturn Return will face obstacles and blockages that give them the opportunity to mature and grow.

What Saturn Represents

Saturn's mantra is "I Achieve" and it represents the urge for structure and order. Some keywords associated with Saturn include, but are not limited to the following:

Discipline, ambition, boundaries, caution, control, cynical, duty, effort, justice, authority, limitation, responsibility, reality, prudence, thrift, reliable, practical, grounded, patient, aspiring, serious, cold, repose, humility.

Saturn in Aquarius ( I Achieve in Unconventional Ways)

When Saturn is in Aquarius, we have a tendency to take the future more seriously. People are focused on building structure and order and they are willing to embrace unconventional, even rebellious,  ways of doing it. Aquarius is associated with friends, group, and associations - especially those of a humanitarian nature. With Saturn in Aquarius people look to cooperate with others in order to revolutionize the world. Since Aquarius rules technology, the ingress of Saturn into Aquarius will show an increase in using the power of technology to change the world in in new and exciting ways for the betterment of humankind.

The house where Aquarius falls in your natal chart is the area of life where you will feel compelled to achieve things in an unconventional manner.

  • If your rising sign is Aries, Aquarius is your 11th House
  • If your rising sign is Taurus, Aquarius is your 10th House
  • If your rising sign is Gemini, Aquarius is your 9th House
  • If your rising sign is Cancer, Aquarius is your  8th House
  • If your rising sign is Leo, Aquarius is your 7th House
  • If your rising sign is Virgo, Aquarius is your 6th House
  • If your rising sign is Libra, Aquarius is your  5th House
  • If your rising sign is Scorpio, Aquarius is your 4th House
  • If your rising sign is Sagittarius, Aquarius is your 3rd House
  • If your rising sign is Capricorn, Aquarius is your 2nd House
  • If your rising sign is Aquarius, Aquarius is your 1st House
  • If your rising sign is Pisces, Aquarius is your 12th House

Example

Saturn in Aquarius and the Fourth House

When Saturn is in Aquarius and the Fourth house, achievement is sought in the area of home and family. You may re-arrange, re-model, or relocate your home to reflect something more unusual or  unconventional. Since Aquarius rules technology, you could upgrade your home with new gadgets.  You could find yourself more interested in exploring your roots, researching your genealogy, or you may find yourself obliged to attempt to resolve a family issue. When Saturn transits your 4th house, this could point to the death of a parent, most likely a mother-figure. Finally, you may also find that you are unable to move on from past events which haunt you.

How will the ingress of Saturn into Aquarius manifest for you?

Example

Venus in Sagittarius and the Second House

With Venus (I love) in Sagittarius (I know) in the 2nd house of money, material possessions, and personal values you want financial freedom so that you can have more comfort and luxury. Having money and things of value gives you a sense of security. You want to be able to afford to travel and explore new cultures, new ideas, and new people.  If you are interested in romance, you could meet someone while traveling, from a different culture than your own and/or someone who works with money in some way such as a banker, accountant, or even a bookie!

The Aspects

Comparing Venus in 0° Sagittarius to your own chart will add another dimension to your interpretation. For example,  in my own chart Transit Venus is applying a conjunction to my Natal Neptune in 4° Sagittarius. When Venus is conjunct Neptune, you can be more inspired and creative. You may feel more spiritual and look for beauty in everything around you. The downside to this is that you can be more vulnerable to deception.

Natural Chart / Whole Houses

Mercury in Sagittarius (I think big!)

When Mercury, planet of the mind, is in Sagittarius, the sign of higher education people are more interested in expanding the mind through education, philosophy and travel.  Sagittarius represents the archetype of the adventurer, so this more about learning through experience rather than through books. People may turn to some form of writing as well and so with the end of the current year and the beginning of the new year right around the corner this is a good time to review one's accomplishments in 2020 and think about what their goals and aspirations for 2021. You can imagine big things for yourself now and develop a plan for making them so.

The astrological house where Sagittarius falls in your Natal, or Birth, Chart is the area of life where you will most feel the energy shift of Mercury in Sagittarius.

  • If Aries is your Ascendant, then Sagittarius is your 9th House.
  • If Taurus is your Ascendant, then Sagittarius is your 8th House.
  • If Gemini is your Ascendant, then Sagittarius is your 7th House.
  • If Cancer is your Ascendant, then Sagittarius is your 6th House.
  • If Leo is your Ascendant, then Sagittarius is your 5th House.
  • If Virgo is your Ascendant, then Sagittarius is your 4th House.
  • If Libra is your Ascendant, then Sagittarius is your 3rd House.

Example

Mercury + Sagittarius + 2nd House

With Mercury in Sagittarius and the 2nd house you are thinking about how you can create more comfort, security, and value for yourself. While you think bigger and better, you are still slower to make decisions now and take a more reserved approach to life in general. You don't want to make too many changes too fast. Now would be a good time to start thinking about the things you want to accomplish in the new year. You can start by making a list.
You may also considering making a purchase of new technology like an ipad, laptop, or cell phone. It would be wise to take your time do your research and make sure that you get the best deal for the amount you're willing to pay. This is a good time to review your budget and consider making decisions about your finances that will bring you more security and value.

Aspects

Aspects, or relationships between planets, is another dimensions of chart interpretation that is important to consider. If you have any planets of positions near 0° Sagittarius then they may form aspects to Mercury. For example. in my own chart transit Mercury at 0° Sagittarius is separating a sextile to Neptune in 2° Aquarius.  A sextile is a type of aspect that represents compatibility and cooperation, so a sextile between Mercury and Neptune indicates the mind and perception are working in harmony.  Intuition could be sharper, and you can communicate what you are sensing better now.  You're more in tune with your sense of compassion so you're more willing to forgive others. You're more romantic and dreamy.
