A New Moon occurs when the Sun and Moon both occupy the same degree of the same sign at the same time. As you can see from the chart above both the Sun and Moon are transiting 4° Capricorn making this a new Moon.  With  a grouping of five planets transiting through Capricorn (called a stellium) there is a lot of energy pouring into Capricorn giving it more strength and power. 

A New Moon bring new possibilities. When the New Moon is in Capricorn people begin to focus more on their career and they become more ambitious, disciplined, and hard-working.  They may be more concerned with advancing in their chosen profession. They may meet with a boss or mentor for some kind of end-of-year review with the hopes of more responsibility, more power, and more money. They may also work on their long term goals. If it seems that their current job cannot satisfy their ambitions, they may consider a new job or life direction in general.

Looking at the chart above we see that the New Moon chart features a Grand Earth Trine between the New Moon in Capricorn, Uranus in Taurus, and the Virgo Ascendant.  With a configuration such as this people can be somewhat more sentitive but the trine / earth energy gives them the ability to control their emotions. You're more creative and imaginative and it shows. You also have the ability to channel your creativity and imagination into something useful.

The Sun enters Capricorn tonight announcing heralding the Winter Solstice and therefore the beginning of Winter.  Perhaps it should not surprise you, dear reader, then that when the Sun enters Capricorn people become colder - both figuratively and literally. With another year almost behind them, people may feel older, and more responsible. They may settle into a more practical mood or mindset and turn their attention and interest to their financial affairs, set new responsibilities for themselves, and become more determined. 

As you can see from the chart above The Sun and Jupiter are about 4 degrees apart and therefore applying a conjunction between the two planets.  The expansive energy of Jupiter amplifies the confidence, creativity, and power of the Sun. For the short time this aspect is active, people may feel more confident and so this is also a good time to start something new or to accept new opportunities and make the best of them.

I've already touched upon the aspects in the transit chart above, however, one should also look at the aspects between the planets in the transit chart and those in one's birth chart. For example, The Sun in 0° Capricorn is applying an opposition to Saturn in 3° Cancer. 

Saturn is called the Great Teacher and when he touches another point or position in your chart you are presented with a lesson designed to help you grow, mature ane evolve. Unfortunatley, these lessons often come in the form of some kind of challenge or difficulty that we must overcome. When the Transit Sun makes an opposition to Natal Saturn you experience blockages and obstacles that present a blow to your ego. This is a time to strive for making better decisions an living more responsibly.

Venus in Aquarius (General) 

When Venus is in Aquarius people are generally happier and more romantic. They are more caring, humanitarian and want friendships more than usual. They may also experience "falling in love" suddenly and more frequently. Perhaps this is all due to the holiday season as well as it being the so close to the end of the year and many folks are not looking forward to spending another year alone, or at least New Year's Eve.  

Aquarius is ruled by Uranus, the rebel planet, and so in their search for love and friendships people may look beyond their usual "type" and seek out relationships (friendships and romances) with people who are non-conforming in some way.

For example, in my birth chart I have Jupiter in 4° Aquarius, so Venus would be applying a conjunction to my Jupiter. A conjunction between Transit Venus and Natal Jupiter could indicate to feelings of generosity, positivity, and lightheartedness.  You feel luckier and could possibly meet someone new at a social function.  Finally, the chances that you overindulge in food or drink could be greater so this is something that you should be aware of if you struggle with over-eating, emotional eating / drinking or alcoholism.

Full Moon in Gemini 2019

A full moon occurs when both the Sun and the Moon occupy the same degree of opposite signs at the same time. As you can see from the above Full Moon Chart, the Sun is in 19° Sagittarius and the Moon is 180° away in 19° Gemini making this a Full Moon. 

The Big Picture 

The Full moon occurs when the Sun and Moon are in opposition. An opposition is a type of aspect in which two planets are 180° apart. They are divided and struggling to pull away from one another and each feels that the lack control over the situation. The Moon is transiting the area of our chart associated with our community, our neighbors and siblings while the Sun is occupying the area of the chart dealing with foreign people, places, and ideas. So we have a divide here between "us" and "them". 

Whereas New Moons bring something new into our lives, such as a new person, a new opportunity, or a new challenge; a Full Moon brings a completion or an end to something. A Full Moon in Gemini and the 3rd House can indicate the end of a feud with a neighbor, or a rivalry with a sibling resulting in a reconciliation. Issues of communicating effectively with others may also arise. In general this is a good time for clearing up misunderstanding with people and explaining how you feel more directly and clearly. 

The Personal Touch 

To better understand how the Full Moon in Gemini will have an affect of you, you need to look at the natal house where 19° Gemini falls in your chart. For example, in my birth chart 19° Gemini aligns with my eighth house of transformation and shared resources. Knowing that the Sun and Moon are 180° apart on this date and time, that would put the Sun in 19° Sagittarius in my second house of money, material possessions, and personal values. 

For me, this would indicate that some type of deep transformation is to be expected. Regeneration and renewal comes through releasing or letting go of blockages related to the idea of "what is ours" vs. "what is mine". Issues related to physical intimacy and trust may also need to be addressed. In addition the Transit Full Moon in 19° is making a Trine to my natal Uranus in 21° Libra indicating an ease of flow between emotions and the urge for individuality and freedom. I can expect a desire to break away from my usual routine and do something new and different. I may feel the urge to do something that causes me to stand out from the crowd more as well. 

How to Work With Full Moon in Gemini Energy 

• the mantra for Gemini is I THINK, so stop and think before you speak (or write). 
• work on your written and verbal communication skills; avoid any language or tone that could be misconstrued. 
• don't assume people "read between the lines" or understand, go the extra mile to clarify. 
• clear up any misunderstanding that have had with others. 
• get to know your neighbors 
• check in with your siblings 
• try to exercise more adaptability, open-mindedness, and versatility especially about anyone or anything that seems different or foreign. 
• get involved with a neighborhood or community effort.

When Mercury, planet of the mind, is in Sagittarius, the sing of higher education people are more interested in expanding the mind through education, philosophy and travel.  Sagittarius represents the archetype of the adventurer, so this more about learning through experience rather than through books. People may turn to some form of writing as well and so with the end of the current year and the beginning of the new year right around the corner this is a good time to review one's accomplishments in 2019 and think about what their goals and aspirations for 2020. You can imagine big things for yourself now and develop a plan for making them so. 

The astrological house where Sagittarius falls in your Natal, or Birth, Chart is the area of life where you will most feel the energy shift of Mercury in Sagittarius.

Aspects, or relationships between planets, is another dimensions of chart interpretation that is important to consider. If you have any planets of positions near 0° Sagittarius then they may form aspects to Mercury. For example. in my own chart transit Mercury at 0° Sagittarius is separating a sextile to Neptune in 2° Aquarius.  A sextile is a type of aspect that represents compatibility and cooperation, so a sextile between Mercury and Neptune indicates the mind and perception are working in harmony.  Intuition could be sharper, and you can communicate what you are sensing better now.  You're more in tune with your sense of compassion so you're more willing to forgive others. You're more romantic and dreamy.

Finding Balance with your Big Three 

When astrologers speak of your "Big Three" they are speaking about three specific positions and points in your natal chart. They are

1. Your Sun Sign- the essence of who you are. 
2. Your Moon Sign- your emotional nature. 
3. Your Ascendant- the first impression you give to others. 

Let's look at an example. Below you will find the natal, or birth, chart for the famous novelist Agatha Christie who is known for creating the who-done-it genre as well as creating the characters of Miss Marple and Hercule Poirot. 

As you can see from the chart above, Agatha has the Sun in Virgo, Moon in Libra, and has Sagittarius Rising. From this alone we can gather that she is comes across as someone who is adventurous, intelligent, honest, plain-spoken, industrious and magnetic. Essentially she is efficient, shrewd, discriminating, has an eye for detail, and is something of a workaholic. She has high ideals, and often takes others into her faith and confidence until they prove themselves unworthy of the same. Although she has a kind and forgiving nature, she can also have a quick temper which can be often be activated by anyone who fails to keep up with her mentally. 

Balancing the Elements of the Chart 

Now, in order to find better balance we must look at the elements associated with these points and positions. Again, we will use the chart of Agatha Christie as an example. 

• Sun in Virgo = Earth 
• Moon in Libra= Air 
• Sagittarius Rising= Fire 

The element lacking here then is water. Perhaps this is why so many of her stories take place on or near water (i.e. Death on the Nile, Appointment with Death, etc...)  Now, before I go any further let me say that it will not always play out in such as way that you are missing only one element as in the case of Agatha Christie. Depending on the signs your big three occupy you could be lacking in as many as three elements. For example. I was looking at a clients chart the other day whose Rising Sign and Sun Sign were both Cancer (water) and whose Moon was in Leo (Fire) so he was lacking both earth and air. 

So in order to bring the elements into balance, we must incorporate the element, or elements, that we lack into our lives as much as possible. 

From Harm to Harmony Suggested Way to Restore Elemental Balance in Your Life 

Fire 

• burn candles in your environment; or erect a "fire altar" in your home
• decorate your home in shades of red or hang artwork that uses firey motifs or colors. 
• write your goals on paper and burn them in the flame of a candle. 
• carry a piece of lava-rock in your pocket
• visit "hot" places such as the desert or a sauna; visit bonfires when appropriate 
• wear clothing or jewelry  in shades of red
• if you can't wear red outwardly, wear red socks or underwear, or carry a red handkerchief in your pocket or purse. 
• take care of your personal power, or vital life force, by using it wisely and replenishing it on a regular basis

 Earth 

• collect rocks, gems, and stones and display them prominently in your home; erect an "earth altar" in your home
• decorate your home in shades of green; hang artwork of forest, animals, mountains, etc...  
• write your goals and wishes on paper and place them under a quartz crystal

• decorate your home is shades of blue, hang artwork in shades of blue featuring fish, mermaids, ocean views, etc... 
• visit oceans, lakes, rivers, or ponds; practice self-care by taking a spiritual bath once or twice a week. 
• wear clothes in shades of blue; if you cannot wear blue outwardly, you can wear blue socks, underwear, or carry a blue handkerchief in your pocket or purse. 
• take care of your emotions by practicing gratitude, ridding yourself of negative emotional or psychic baggage, and learning to express them in a healthy manner.
