When Venus (I Love) is in Cancer (I Feel), people are more emotional but may refrain from giving out their affection too easily.  They want a true romance that is lasting and are interested more in strength, loyalty, and security rather than more transitory relationships (i.e. hit it and quit it). Feelings and values regarding love and romance lean more towards the traditional and they are more patient and determined in their pursuit of love.  Familiar and predictive behavior is favored more when Venus is in Cancer and people are more apt to seek out love in their own community, neighborhood, or family (i.e. my brother's friend) rather than online or through dating apps.

Relationships as well as finances improve and you can expect to feel happier, more balanced, and generally satisfied with life. This can be a time in your life when you find that you can manifest your desires with ease.

They are eager to talk and socialize but can be somewhat lazy in following through on any commitments.  However fun and outgoing people may be, there may also be somewhat distanced on a certain level.  In terms of romance and love, which is ruled by Gemini, we are more attracted to people on a mental level, someone who has a way with words and can carry on a conversation.

You may be attracted to someone who is deep and mysterious but only on an intellectual level and it is not likely that you would commit to anything serious. Gemini represent the twins and so you can find yourself attracted to more than one person or even involved in something of a love triangle. Again, this is all on the mental level, something that you find yourself thinking about or are curious about but which you do not commit to in the area of action.

Aspects, or relationships between planets is another dimensions of astrological interpretation that should be considered. For example, let us suppose that you have Neptune at 4° Sagitarrius. This would mean that Transit Venus is applying an opposition to Natal Neptune. Let us break down this aspect to understand it better.

When Transit Venus is in Opposition to Natal Neptune you are more susceptible to deception in both money and love. It's important that you don't make any major decisions regarding finances or relationships during the time this transit is active. Beware of anyone who would take advantage of you as they can perceive your kindness and generosity as a weakness. You may have a tendency now to idealize anyone that you are interested in or who seems interested in you, which could lead to disappointment and embarassment. There is also the possiblity of misinterpreting another person's kindness for something more. Hint: If you think someone is flirting with you, they are probably not. 

Ruler of the House 

The Ruler of the house should also be considered. Venus rules both Taurus and Libra so the houses that these signs are in in your Natal Chart will be influenced by the ingress of Venus in Gemini. In this blog entry I am only going to focus on Taurus.  There are two questions that you need to ask yourself to understand the ruler of the house. 

1. What house does Venus-Ruled Taurus occupy in your Natal Chart?
2. What house does Gemini (Venus in Gemini) occupy in your Natal Chart?

Let us say that Taurus is in your 7th house, which would put Gemini in your 8th House. In this instance it would be said that the Ruler of the 7th House is in the 8th House. This could be interpreted as "marriage, agreements, and partnerships serve sex, transformation, and spirituality. 

We can then extrapolate on this statement and say something like "you are attracted to someone who is dark, mysterious, and magnetic. Someone who is intense and passionate with whom you can explore the darker side of your sexual fantasies. You're looking for a partner so that you can share your financial resources."

Venus (I love) in Taurus (I have) translate to I love to have. The house where Taurus falls in your chart will give an indication of exactly what it is you love to have. For instance, Taurus falls in the second house in the natural chart and so, generally speaking, people love to have nice things, things that are beautiful, things that are of value (such as beautiful works of art, or simply money itself).

How Venus in Taurus Affects You

A planet, such as Venus, describes a specific type of energy. In the case of Venus it is the energy of love. The sign that it occupies indicates how that energy manifests and the house that that sign falls in your natal chart will give an indication of the area of life that will be affected.   

In order to determine the house that Mars in Taurus is transiting you look at your birth chart and determine what house aligns with Taurus. For example. 

• If your rising sign is Aries, Taurus is your 2nd House. 
• If your rising sign is Taurus, Taurus is your 1st House.

Because Venus is said to rule Taurus, it is more empowered in this postion so the urge to be in a relationship can be stronger. You are more patient, sensual, and dependable so relationships that you are already in can improve and reach a new level of commitment and intimacy. If you are single it is possible that you meet a special someone during this time. Because Taurus is fond of comfort and beauty, a person's physical appearance may be more important to you know than usual. Not only do you want a commitment now but you are also ready for it as well.   

Aspects Within the Chart 

Aspects, or relationships between planets, is another dimension of astrological interpretation that should be considered. First we can look at the aspects between the planets in the transit chart. If you look at the chart above, you'll see that Venus (I love) is also 3 degrees away from Uranus (I rebel) making this an applying conjunction. This would translate to I love to rebel in relationships. This can be an indication of meeting someone who is unusual, or against your usual type or beinig in an unconventional relationship.  

Aspect to Your Natal Chart 

Next we look for any aspects between transit Venus and one's natal chart. For example, looking at my own natal chart I see that Venus at 0° Taurus is making a square (difficult aspect) to my Natal MC at 10° Leo. A square is a type of aspect in which the energy or urge of one planet is causing friction with the energy or urge of another planet.

Venus is known as the "lesser benefic" (with Jupiter being the "greater benefic") so a square of transit Venus to one's Natal MC isn't really considered severe or particularly difficult. The positive aspects of Venus, such as charm, attraction, and socializing are enhanced while its negative aspects can bring greater difficulties. This is not a time for selfishness, laziness, dishonesty, or vanity. These negative behaviors can cause problems in your relationships or with your reputation. You may feel a stronger urge for romance or companionship now -- especially physical contact. 

Ruler of the House 

What house does Venus Rule in your chart? The ingress of Venus into Taurus will have an affect on the ruler of that house. Venus rules both Taurus and Libra. In my own Natal Chart Venus Ruled Taurus is in the 7th House and Taurus is also in my 7th House. So the ruler of my 7th house is also transiting the 7th house. What this means is that the activities of the 7th house will now serve the interest and activities of the 7th house. 

This can be translated as "relationships, cooperation, and agreements serve marriage, agreements, and partnerships." We can extrapolate on this statement by saying something along the lines of you treat your relationship like a business or your business like a relationship. You may choose a romantic partner that you can go into business with or you may start a romantic relationship with a business partner.

When Venus is in Aries, emotions expressed more aggressively so people are generally more affectionate and extravagant. However, Venus is said to be in detriment in Aries (see essential dignity) that is, its energy is diminished. So whereas people are more affectionate they may not be so lucky in the area of love and romance. 

How Venus in Aries Affects You

A planet, such as Venus, describes a specific type of energy. In the case of Venus it is the energy of love. The sign that it occupies indicates how that energy manifests. Venus in Aries can manifest as aggressive and fearless expressions of love and attraction. You can either be the aggressor or the object of such assertiveness.  Finally the house that the planet transits will determine where this energy will manifest in your life. In order to determine the house that Venus in Aries is transiting you look at your birth chart and determine what house aligns with Aries. For example. 

• If your rising sign is Aries, Aries is your 1st  House  
• If your rising sign is Taurus, Aries is your 12th House 
• If your rising sign is Gemini, Aries is your 11th House

Again, you could be the aggressor or the object of another person's interest. You could meet someone through your work or it could be a co-worker. However, with Venus being in detriment in Aries things could just be off or it could not be the right time and so things are not likely to work out. 

The sixth house is naturally aligned with Virgo and so you will not fall for anyone too easily. You may adopt the same attitude towards romantic relationships that you take to finding a job.  You may find yourself being critical of anyone who shows interest in you, assessing them to determine that they pass your inspection and meet your criteria. 

Since the 6th house rules over health and work, this can be a period of time in which you are more energetic and impatient in terms of how you do your work and go about your daily routine. You can also renew your effort to get healthier by giving more attention, interest, and enerty to your diet and exercise routine.

A square is a type of aspect in which creates tension between the urges of two planets. Since the slower planet ususally makes the greater impact on the faster planet, let us break it down like so.

Saturn casts a gloomy mood over Venus, and you can be more cynical about love now. However, Saturn can also let you see your relationships more as they are and less than the way you want them to be. If you have a partner, communciation with him or her can be difficult now and you may find yourself having arguements or disagreements. This may be necessary, however, to air your respective grievances so that they can be dealt with and not allowed to fester. Venus just wants to have relax, have fun, and be comfortable but with Saturn making a square to it you may not be able to feel relaxed or comfortable. You may feel that you have too many responsibilities.You'll have to put in more of an effort to get along with anyone who can hold your accountable for your obligations and responsibilities.

What house(s) does Venus rule in your chart? Venus rules both Taurus and Libra, so the houses that these signs are in in your Natal Chart represent the areas of life that will be be affected by Venus in Aries. For example, in my chart Taurus is in the 7th house and Aries is in my 6th. In this case, you would say that the ruler of the 7th House is in the 6th House. Let's disect this statement. 

• Ruler of the 7th House in the 6th House 
• The activities of the 7th house serve the urge of the 6th House 
• Relationships, cooperation, and agreements service daily habits, routine, health, and work 

Next, we take this statement and extrapolate on it. With the ruler of the 7th house in the sixth house you can improve your working environment by practicing more cooperation and compromise. You work more efficiently with a partner. You allow your working partner to take the lead and have the spotlight. A similar dynamic would also be valid in terms of your heath. In order to get healthier you may need to find a workout partner, or you may need to join a gym and obtain the services of a trainer to guide you (the 7th house rules contracts). Alternatly, you may need to find someone on the same diet and or exercise program as you and share recipes, exercises, tips and tricks in addition to giving one another emotional encouragment and support.
