The Sun in Aquarius 2020

Sun in Aquarius
1/20/20  6:55 AM PDT
Natural Chart / Whole Houses

Sun in Aquarius (General)

☼ + Aquarius.svg

The Sun usually enters Aquarius just after the first of the year and so people are usually thinking about their futures, their wishes and their dreams. They may exhibit more original thoughts and ideas and many people will consider making plans for the future to make them so. This is also a time when we consider who we associate ourselves with and will think about surrounding ourselves with like-minded people who can help us achieve our wishes and dreams.

Where Aquarius falls in your Natal, or Birth, Chart is the area of life where you will identify more with your friends, hopes, and dreams in an untraditional manner.

  • If your rising sign is Aries, Aquarius is your 11th House
  • If your rising sign is Taurus, Aquarius is your 10th House
  • If your rising sign is Gemini, Aquarius is your 9th House
  • If your rising sign is Cancer, Aquarius is your  8th House
  • If your rising sign is Leo, Aquarius is your 7th House
  • If your rising sign is Virgo, Aquarius is your 6th House
  • If your rising sign is Libra, Aquarius is your  5th House
  • If your rising sign is Scorpio, Aquarius is your 4th House
  • If your rising sign is Sagittarius, Aquarius is your 3rd House
  • If your rising sign is Capricorn, Aquarius is your 2nd House
  • If your rising sign is Aquarius, Aquarius is your 1st House
  • If your rising sign is Pisces, Aquarius is your 12th House

Example

+ Aquarius.svg + 4th House

I am rebellious, detached, and altruistic about my home and traditions

With the Sun in Aquarius and the 4th house you identify more with unconventional thoughts and ideas regarding your roots and your home as well. This may be a time when you rebel against ingrained thoughts and behaviors passed down to your from your family or roots which may not be healthy or which may not serve your goals in life and your wishes for the future. Instead you forge your own path adopting more progressive attitudes, thoughts, and ideas.

The Sun Aquarius 4th house placement can also manifest as unusual changes occurring in or to your home.  For example, you could have a friend stay with you or you could stay with a friend. Alternately, you may make changes to your home that give it a unique and unusual look.

Aspects

The relationship between transiting planets and planets in one's natal chart is another dimension of astrological interpretation that should be considered. For example, in my own chart the Sun at 0° Aquarius is applying a conjunction to my Jupiter in 2° Aquarius. A conjunction is a type of aspect in which the energies of two planets become so blended that it is difficult to tell them apart.

  ♃

I expand blends with I am

When transit Jupiter makes a conjunction with your natal sun your personality becomes bigger, more jovial, and positive. You can be presented with new opportunities now and you have the confidence to make the most of them, if that is what you choose to do.

Ruler of the House

The 'ruler" of the house is another dimension of astrological interpretation that should be considered. In Astrology, the Sun rules Leo. The house Leo is in in your natal chart is the areas of life that will have an affect on the natal house that the Sun in Aquarius is transiting. For example, in my own chart, the Sun ruled Leo is in my 10th house of career, ambition, and public image. What this means is that activities associated with the 10th House will help fulfill the urge of the 4th house.

Ruler of the 10th House in the 4th House

The urge, or agenda, of the 4th house is to have strong roots, emotional security, and strong emotional ties. Activities associated with the 10th house including having success in your career, building a good reputation, have a good relationship with your bosses, mentors, or parents.

When the ruler of the 10th house is in the 4th house it means that having a successful career, a good reputation, and positive relationships with your bosses, mentors and/or parents is vital for strengthening your roots, allowing greater emotional security, and strong family ties.

This makes perfect sense to me because, as some of you may or may not know, I moved from South Carolina to Washington State in 2006. All my family is in South Carolina, so it is important to me that my family, and especially my mother (4th house) know that I am doing well in my life. My career, and my relationship with my boss (in my muggle job), allows me to have the security of being able to pay my bills, feed myself, and have a certain amount of satisfaction in my life to prove to my family that I am independent and able to take care of myself.

Where does 0° Aquarius fall in your chart and how will the ingress of the Sun in Aquarius manifest for you?

Full Moon in Leo

Full Moon in Leo

The Full Moon in Leo takes places on January 20th at 7:53 PM (Pacific).  A Full Moon occurs when the Sun and Moon occupy the same degree of opposite signs of the zodiac.  As you can see from the chart above, the Moon is at zero degrees Leo and the Sun is at zero degrees Aquarius forming an opposition creating a dynamic of challenging one another; something is being split or divided.

This also being a Lunar Eclipse, the effects are pretty much the same but only stronger. However, as the eclipse subsides the opportunity for healing and balance will return. The Lunar Eclipse acts like a reset button on our emotions.

The Big Picture

Leo is a proud, possessive, and territorial sign; while Aquarius is detached and altruistic.  So we have a dynamic here of Me vs. Them or what I want in opposition to what we need.  Full Moons are thought to bring completion or endings and with the possessiveness of that Leo energy at play here this can sometimes feel like someone is taking something away from us, or depriving us of something.

We can see this play out in politics with Donald Trump stumping for his wall (what I want) and congress wanting to reopen the government (what we need) . There is a clear split or division here. Nancy Pelosi (Aries) un-invites Donald Trump (Gemini) from delivering his State of the Union. In turn, Donald Trump prevents Nancy Pelosi from traveling to Afghanistan with neither side showing any signs of backing down. With Mars (the ruler of Aries) in Nancy's sun sign right now she has the strength, drive, and energy to stand up to the President.

We can see this pattern in what occurred in Washington D.C. when a youth wearing a MAGA hat (proud, arrogant - what I want) disrespected an elder native (detached, altruistic  - what we need) at an Indigenous People's March.

This is a pattern we can see play out or a large scale by watching the news, paying attention to what is going on on social media and in the lives of our family and friends; or on a small scale by examining our own natal charts to see where the Full Moon is taking place there.

The Personal Touch

To understand how the Full Moon in Leo affects us an individuals we need to see where Zero Degrees Leo is in our own natal charts.  For example, zero degrees Leo in my natal chart is on the cusp of the 10th House, which is known as the public sector of our charts. The 10th house rules over our reputation and public standing. Across from the 10th house, is the 4th house which rules over our private life and home.

Since the Full Moon brings completion and endings, the full moon in my 10th house could herald some kind of public embarrassment or receiving negative attention from the public. With the 10th house vs 4th house dynamic at play, I may feel a divide between my public and private aspects of my life.
