A Full Moon occurs when the Sun and the Moon occupy the same degree of opposing signs. As you can see from the chart above the Moon is in 27° Cancer and the Sun is 180° away in 27° Capricorn forming an opposition and making this a Full Moon.
The Big Picture
An opposition is a type of aspect between two planets in which they are pulling away from one another. In an individual's chart it often feels like someone is doing something to you and you feel powerless to do anything about it. In this natural chart above, the moon is transiting the area of the chart dealing with home, our roots, where you live, your property, and subconscious while the Sun is transiting the part of our chart dealing with status, authority figures, our career, and ambition.... in other words: our private lives vs. public perception.
Whereas New Moon's often bring a new beginning or a new opportunity, a Full Moon bring completion and endings. Cancer is a Cardinal sign, and cardinal signs are the leaders of the zodiac. They have a great deal of energy and enjoy starting things and need a lot of action in their lives or they get bored and restless. A Full Moon in the Cardinal sign of cancer can manifest as endings surrounding the home. This is a good time to finish home projects or resolving a family matter. If you have been spending too much time at home or at work, now is also a good time to balance your time and energy between the two.
How to Work with Full Cancer Moon Energy

However, you may not feel that you are able to fully express yourself now due to being confronted by or held back by old modes of thinking and self-expression. In short, while you want to break free and explore new thoughts, ideas and experiences, you may find yourself unable to escape old modes of thinking and self-expression.
Aspects
Aspects, or relationships between planets, is another dimension of astrological interpretation that you should consider. For example, in my own chart the Full Moon in 27° Cancer is applying a square to my Natal Moon at 29° Aries. Under this aspect, you can expect to experience feelings of being emotionally challenged by other people which has the potential to bring about tension or arguments with others. It is now harder for you to express your feelings and emotions to others. You may even feel that you are not as close to your loved ones as you once were. It is best to wait for this transit to pass before attempting to open up to other people.
