Aries- You're more mentally active and alert now.  Your mind overflows with thoughts and ideas, you are eager to talk about and others are eager to listen to what you have to say.  For this reason, you find yourself being more social for the next four weeks or so and you are able to network with others and make those connections that are so important for having success in life. This is a good period for collecting and analyzing data and information to be used or implemented later. 

Taurus- Your focus this  month is on your personal values and those things which you value. You identify with the material things you possess and see them as a symbol of your status or position in life. Your possessions, the amount of money you have in the bank, the state of your home, the make and model of your car... do they really define you or are you defined by those intangible values called loyalty, trust, and honesty to name a few? 

Gemini- You are likely to experience a sense of renewal and revitalization this month. However, this will be preceding by an ongoing period of positive self-centeredness (what Dr. Martello called psysho-selfism) that others may misconstrue as unapologetic selfishness. For this reason you may find it difficult to work with others too closely this month. Now is the time for you to focus on your personal needs and goals and devise a spiritual plan for achieving them. 

Cancer- This month will likely be marked by a period of deep introspection. You will find yourself exploring the deeper, more hidden parts of your own psyche in an attempt to bring illumination and a greater understanding of who you are.  You may confront aspects of yourself that no longer serve you and challenge yourself to move past them. This will be a time of completion and endings in which you shed your ego and destroy negative patterns of thought and behavior so that you can regenerate. 

Leo- Friendships and group related activities come to bear this month.  Your role in the groups you belong to come under your scrutiny now as well as their purpose and function in your life.  You find yourself questioning what you are getting out of these associations or if you are contributing your own fair share.  The best way to figure this out is by active participation in common activities. It is important for you now to be a part of the group in which your individuality is also well established. 

Virgo- You're focused on your career and reputation this month and you want both to shine. This is a good time for examining what drives you in terms of the outer-world, what your goals and aspirations in life are as well as how close or even how far you are from achieving them. You could be charged with more authority this month and with added responsibility on your shoulders comes added scrutiny and observation by your superiors. It is important for your own advancement that you do well.

Libra- You're waxing philosophical this month and want to broaden your horizons in many ways. This will entail you stepping out of your comfort zone to experience people, places and things with which you are not familiar. Breaking out of your usual routine brings unique and beneficial opportunities. You absorb everything now and you find yourself with a powerful thirst for knowledge as well as a strong desire for meaningful experiences. The study of new subjects as well as travel is favored at this time.

Scorpio- You're more reflective this month and are focused on transforming some aspect of your life in a significant and meaningful way.  You may find yourself to be more moody and emotional as you try to figure out both what you want to change and how you want to change it.  Your emotional pendulum can swing towards the extremes and you tend to keep things to yourself. You will also find that you excel at any type of research or information gathering. 

Sagittarius- You are all about relationships this month and you are poised to learn a great deal about yourself and the world that you live in through your relationships to the other people in your life.  Your focus is on the other in your life this month and you are concerned with how you work with your partners of all kinds (business or personal). You generally benefit from the relationships in your life and should find yourself becoming closer to others this month. 

Capricorn- You identify more with the work that you do this month. You're not interested in fun or fantasy and prefer to throw yourself into your work. You are more organized at this time and can deal with the small details of any matter.  For this reason you can focus on completing several small projects rather than one big one.  Successfully accomplishing needed tasks makes you feel good about yourself and the life that you have.  

Aquarius- You experience a greater sense of freedom and happiness than you have in a long time this month.  You aren't overly concerned with work, responsibilities, or other obligations right now.  You just want to have fun and you want you want to have it now. Pisces- You are more of a homebody this month and issue of home and family occupu your attention and interest.  You're not interested in going out or doing things away from home but rather prefer quiet evenings at home doing things you enjoy or spending time with your family and other loved one.  This is also a good time to re-arrange, re-model, or renovate your home so that your home and surroundings are more of a sanctuary for you.

Mercury in Cancer (General) 

When Mercury (I think) is in Cancer (I feel) people's minds and thought processes are ruled, or over ruled,  by their emotions.  The mind is clouded by the emotions and it isn't as quick as it is normally. Decisions may be based on feelings rather than facts.  The House where Cancer falls in your natal chart is where you are likely to feel the effects of mercury in Cancer.

• If your rising sign is Gemini, Cancer is your 2nd House. 
• If your rising sign is Cancer, Cancer is your 1st House.

I think about how I feel nostalgic and moody about my spiritual growth and dreams. 

The urge to think expresses itself as nostalgic, nurturing, and moody and this generally manifest in the area of spiritual growth, dreams, and long journeys. Mercury in Cancer in the 9th house can indicate a mind clouded by one's feelings about spirituality and their direction in life. Any decisions made regarding your spiritual growth will likely be based on feelings rather than cold, hard, facts. You may also feel the urge to travel to places you've never been before or meet and speak with people from other cultures.   

Aspects 

Aspects, or relationships between planets,  are another dimension of astrological interpretation that should be considered. Let us suppose then that you have Natal Pluto at 3° Libra that would mean that Mercury at 0° Cancer is making a square to your Natal Pluto. A square is a type of hard (difficult) aspect in which the energy or urge of one planet is squaring off against the energy or urge of another planets creating friction. When Mercury squares Pluto you can be more pessimistice and brooding. You're more suspicious of other people now and their motivations and feel the urge to investigate them to get to the bottom of hte matter. 

The Ruler of the House

The Ruler of the house should also be considered. Mercury rules both Gemini and Virgo and so the natal houses these signs occupy will be affected by the ingress of Mercury into Cancer. For the purpose of this blog I will focus on Virgo. To interpret this place you need to ask yourself two questions. They are:

1. What house does Mercury Ruled Virgo occupy in my Natal Chart?
2. What housed does Cancer occupy in my Natal Chart? 

Let us suppose that Virgo is your 11th house, which would make Cancer your 9th House. This could be expressed as the Ruler of the 11th house in the 9th house or the activities of the 11th house serve the agenda of the 9th house. This, in turn, can be expressed as "friends, associates, and connections serve higher education, travel, and meeting people from different places and cultures." We can than extrapolate on this statement and say something like "your friend include people from many different places and cultures and they introduce you to new ways of thinking and believing. You travel with your friends and have a shared interesting if discoverin glife's meaning. "

Note: Last year, I didn't really cover the transits of the moon other than it's relationship to other planets and positions in the form of aspects. This year, I will be covering the Moon's journey through the zodiac at the rate of one sign per month in the natural order.

The Moon in Leo (General) 

The Moon makes a full circuit through the zodiac once every 28 1/2 days spending about 2.5 days in each sign. It's mantra is I FEEL and some keywords associated with it include, but are not limited to, childhood, cycles, emotions, feelings, habits, home, change, instincts, mother, passive, subconscious. nurturing, and imagination. The Moon rules Cancer, is Exalted in Taurus, in fall in Scorpio, and Detriment in Capricorn (see essential dignity).

When the moon is in Leo, people are more social. They want to be creative and have fun. They want to go out more, see people and do things. They feel more romantic and are in the mood for love. They are not very interested in day to day responsibilities, but rather chose play over work. There can be danger of overindulgence now which should be carefully monitored. They may also seek out more attention from others in order to receive emotional satisfaction and fulfillment.

For this reason you may be a bit more of a show off so that you can prove grab the attention of people who share your goals and show your worth to them. 

Aspects 

Aspects are another dimension of astrological interpretation that can be considered. However, since the moon moves so quickly through the zodiac any aspects it makes to Natal Planets will be short lived. For example, let us suppose that you have Venus at 2° Scorpio, then that would mean that the transit Moon at 0° Leo is making a square to your Natal Venus. A square is a type of hard, or difficult, aspect in which the energy or urge of one planet is at odds with the energy or urge of another planet. 

When the Moon forms a square to Venus you feel more vulnerable in social situations and require more reassurance. You can become more easily upset now which makes you irritable. You might experience problems with your lover or emotional upsets at home. This is not a good time for having fun.

A New Moon occurs when the Sun and Moon both occupy the same degree of the same sign of the zodiac at the same time. As you can see from the above image the Sun and Moon are in 2° Gemini making this a New Moon. When the moon is in Gemini people feel more like talking about their emotions. They may feel restless, indecisive, and flighty. People are more reflective, though they may have trouble sticking to one subject for any length of time. They are more open to change and they are open-minded about the form such change may take place, but again they will find it difficult to pin things down in a decisive manner. 

The Astrological House in which the New Moon occurs in your Natal Chart gives an indication of the area of life activated by the New Moon and where you can expect to see the energy of the New Moon in Gemini to play out. Since the May New Moon occurs in 2° Gemini, you would look at your Natal, or Birth Chart to ascertain in what House 2° Gemini occurs.  

The Twelve Houses of Life 

1. The self, ego, appearance, initiative, leadership, fresh starts and new beginnings. 
2. Money and material matters.  Your physical environment, income, money, and your sense of self-esteem.

Chart Emphasis 

If you look at the chart above you'll notice that all of the planets occupy the left or Eastern side of the chart (in astrology the compass points are reversed). When a majority of planets are in the Eastern side of the chart when can expect people to be more proactive. They are ambitious go getters and self-starters who are self-motivated and prepared to take any risks necessary in order to obtain their goals. People will not wait around for opportunities to come to them but rather they will make their own opportunities and run with them. 

A Practical Example 

New Moon + Gemini + 8th House 

Using our keyword system the new moon in Gemini and the 8th house can translate to I feel the urge to communicate about / I am curious about deep transformation in the area of sex, and shared resources.  With the New Moon in the 8th house you may feel the need to change something about your sex life such as attracting a new lover. You may feel restless and sexually frustrated and go back and fourth about doing anything to find satisfaction. You may waffle on what it is that you want in a lover or if you really want one anyway. 

In addition let us suppose that you have Pluto at 3° Libra in your birth chart, this would mean that the New Moon in 2° Gemini is making a Trine to your Natal Pluto. A trine is a type of aspect in which the energy or urge of one planet is supportive of the energy or urge of another planet. When the Moon makes a trine to Pluto you feel more powerful, confident, and mysterious. People are attracted to your mystique and you have more sway over them.

When the Sun is in Gemini people are more thoughtful and communicative. The mind is more active and full of many thoughts and ideas. People, in general, want to have more conversations with other people. Since Gemini is ruled by Mercury these conversations can be in person, by snail mail, over the telephone, by text, or by email. People are more curious and interested in many different things and subjects. They may start several projects which they fail to complete. For this reason, it is better to only tackle small, relatively easy goals to complete rather than long term goals.

The Ruler of the house should also be considered. The Sun rules Leo, so the ingress of the Sun in Gemini will have an affect of whatever house Leo occupies in your natal chart. In order to interpret this placement you need to ask yourself two questions. They are:

What house does the Sun ruled Leo occupy in my natal chart?

What house does Gemini (Sun in Gemini) occupy in my natal Chart?

Let us suppose that Leo is your 10th House, then that would put Gemini in your 8th House. This would be expressed as the ruler of the 10th house in the 8th house. What this means is that the activities of the 10th house serve the agenda of the 8th house or "reputation, achievements, and the desire for recognition serves passion, intensity, sex, and shared resources." We can extrapolate on this statement and say something like "your career offers you the opportunity to explore that which is considered taboo or usually frowned upon (sex, death, the occult.) You become known for your sexual exploits and experiences. You become an authority on the occult, self-transformation, or working with the dead."

As of this writing we have two planets in retrograde and another will station retrograde on May 14th. They are: Venus, Saturn, and Jupiter respectively.

What Does Retrograde Mean?

A planet is retrograde when it appears to move backwards across the cosmos from our perspective on Earth. We mostly hear about retrograde in relation to Mercury which occurs three times a year and last for roughly three weeks each time. Generally speaking, retrograde are times of REsearch, REview, REvision, REconsideration, and REevaluation relating to the urges or energies of the planet in question. 

Venus Retrograde  (Gemini) 

May 12th, 2020 to June 24th, 2020  

Venus Retrograde begins at 21° Gemini Of the three planets in retrograde, Venus is arguably the most powerful because it is a personal planet. It rules over both money and love. This is not a good time to start a new relationship. Venus in Gemini This is a good time to review your relationship(s) if partnered, by checking in with your partner. Venus in Gemini is curious and loves to communicate so this is your chance to get to know your partner all over again and to focus on not taking each other for granted. 

If you are single, this is a good time to review what you are looking for in a relationship. You might want to start by making a list of qualities that you are looking for in a partner. For now just make the list, don't think about it too much and then in the coming days and week working on refining your list eliminating anything that's not a deal breaker and then identifying those things that are absolute deal breakers and those items that you are willing to negotiate on. Once Venus begins moving forwards again, you can actively begin working for attracting and manifesting the lover that you described.

Saturn Retrograde began in 1° Aquarius. Saturn is the planet that seeks out structure and stability. He is all about discipline and order. With Saturn in Retrograde you can expect delays in any effort to grow on your part --- or the part of others for that matter. Such delays teach us patience and gives us the opportunity to review any changes we would like to make. This is a good time to review our long-term goals for the future and any plans we may have for success and achievement. Trying to move forward now can actually make us fall behind.

Jupiter Retrograde will begin at 27° Capricorn. Jupiter is known as the Greater Benefic so there really is no great drawback to a Jupiter Retrograde.  This is a good time to review our concepts of belief, growth, optimism, wisdom, and dreams. This is a time to seek out (and find) inner peace, spiritual balance, and harmony by rethinking, reassessing, and revisiting our way of thinking our philosophy of life, and our spiritual perspective. Jupiter in Capricorn wants us to imagine big dreams but to also stay grounded in reality.
