Aspects: Venus Conunct Mars

Today I want to go through the process of analyzing an aspect with you. If this is the first time you are reading about aspects, you may want to go back and read my article breaking them down. Specifically we will be discussing transit Venus in 7 degrees Taurus applying a conjunction to Natal Mars at 9 degrees Taurus. What this mean is that we are analyzing the movement of the planet Venus against the backdrop of someone's natal chart. In this scenario, Venus is moving and Mars is stationary because that is where it was at the time of the individuals birth.

A conjunction occurs when two planets occupy the same degree of the same sign at the same time. As you can see from the picture at left Venus is two degrees away from an exact conjunction and it is getting closer or approaching exactness. This is called an applying conjunction.  It will be exact when Venus is at 9 degrees Taurus and a separating conjunction when Venus is at 10 degrees, or moving away from exact.

Other things to keep in mind here is that Venus rules Taurus and in this chart Taurus is  in the 7th House; and Mars rules the 6th House (Aries).

Let's start with some keywords:

  • Venus (I Love): adaptable, harmony, affectionate, artistic, beauty, attraction, charm, connection, femininity, glamour, intimacy, love, pleasure, seduction, social ease and vanity.
  • Taurus (I Have): patient, consistency, predictable, steady, materialistic, passive, dependable, comfort, value, sensual, and laid back.
  • Mars (I Act): action, aggression, lust, anger, assertiveness, masculinity, passion, energy, strength, conquest, drive, impatience, willpower, sex, sexuality, desire, courage, restlessness and vigor.
  • Sixth House- Daily routine, health, pets, service to others
  • 7th House- Marriage, agreements, relationships, and open enemies.

Next we apply our keywords to the placements.

Venus in Taurus and the 7th House might translate to I love to have relationships. And Mars in Taurus and the 7th House might translate to I love to act in relationships.

When a conjunction occurs between two planets their energies blend and become fused together. In fact, they may become so blended that it is difficult to tell them apart. Therefore, Venus Conjunct Mars in the 7th house might translate to I love to have relationships in which I am assertive, aggressive,  driven and sexual

Because Venus rules Taurus and therefore the 7th house, it's energy is much more powerful (see essential dignity) and so you might expand on your sentence by saying: I have a powerful urge to be  in a committed relationship which allows me to be aggressive, sexual, and passionate.

Next we take into account the fact that Mars rules Aries which is aligned with the 6th house in this chart.  Knowing that the 6th house rules one's daily routine, health, pets and service others you might expand your sentence in such a manner: I work hard to make having a committed relationship a part of my life because I want it so badly. Having sex is an important part of any relationship right now and I want to make it  a part of our daily routine. I devote myself to being of service to my lover or partner and it is important to me that I be healthy and vital so that I can satisfy him or her.

In addition, you might also note that during the short time that transit Venus will conjunct natal Mars love and sex may become so intertwined that one may be confused for another. You may also form a profound emotional bond with anyone that you have sex with, so if causal sex is something that is part of your life you might want to be careful of falling in "love" with a sexual partner. Alternately, you might also find yourself becoming sexually attracted to someone you only had platonic feelings for before. In fact, it could be someone you met recently when Venus made a conjunction to transit Uranus at 4 degrees Taurus which would have been about 4 days prior.

If you are inclined to practice magic, you might take the opportunity to use this energy to your advantage by doing any kind of rootwork to draw either a known or an unknown lover to you.  Some examples may include:

  • carrying a buckeye dressed with a combination of fast luck and kiss me now oil to attract a lover.
  • write a brief description of what you are looking for in a lover on a piece of paper. Burn a red candle dressed with your choice of oils (follow me boy, come to me, lavender love, etc..) on top of the prayer paper. If you desire, you can use a red penis candle or a red vulva candle as appropriate. Shortly before the candle is spent, burn the paper in the flame of the candle.
  • dress yourself with any of the oils mentioned above, depending on your specific intent.
  •  spend time reading / meditating / praying psalms or selected Bible verses such as the Songs of Solomon.

I hope you enjoyed this blog entry and learned a little about the interpretation of aspects in the transit chart.
