In astrology, the planet Mars, fiery and assertive, governs our drive, passion, and how we pursue what we want – especially in the realm of intimacy. By examining the sign and house your natal Mars occupies, we can gain fascinating insights into your unique erotic blueprint.

Mars in the Houses

We already talked about your Mars sign and how you show your desire. Now, let's look at the house where your Mars is located in your birth chart. Think of the houses as different areas of your life. The house your Mars is in tells you where your sexual energy is most active and what you really need to feel satisfied sexually.

Forget simple explanations – the houses are just different parts of your life, and Mars' fiery energy will show up differently in each one. Let's go through the twelve houses and see what your sexual needs might be:

Mars in the 1st House: All About You

If your Mars is in the 1st House (the house of "you" and your identity), your sexual energy is a big part of who you are. You're likely to be direct, go-getter, and maybe even a little quick to act when it comes to intimacy. How you look and your personal charm are important in how you express yourself sexually. You need to feel desired for who you are, and you might be the one to make the first move. What you need is to express your true desires and feel physically alive and attractive.

Mars in the 2nd House: Feeling Good and Connected

When Mars is in the 2nd House (the house of what you value and own), your sexual desires are often tied to feeling good physically, being comfortable, and feeling connected to your partner. You probably enjoy the physical parts of intimacy – touching, tasting, and how everything feels. Feeling secure and valued by your partner can be important for your sexual satisfaction. What you need is physical pleasure, feeling safe and appreciated, and maybe a partner you feel a strong sense of connection with.

Mars in the 3rd House: Turned On by Talking

If your Mars is in the 3rd House (the house of communication and thinking), your sexual energy is often sparked by mental stimulation, funny back-and-forth, and connecting with someone's mind. You might find talking and sharing ideas with a partner to be a turn-on. You probably like variety and new things to keep your interest. What you need is a mental connection, interesting conversations, and a partner who is smart and open to new ideas.

Mars in the 4th House: Intimacy at Home

With Mars in the 4th House (the house of home and your emotional roots), your sexual desires are deeply connected to feeling emotionally secure, having privacy, and maybe even your family background. You might want intimacy in a place that feels comfortable and familiar, and you need to feel emotionally safe and cared for to fully express your sexuality. What you need is emotional security, feeling safe and loved, and a partner who understands your need for a deep, private connection.

Mars in the 5th House: Playful Passion

When Mars is in the 5th House (the house of creativity, romance, and fun), how you express yourself sexually is likely to be playful, passionate, and all about having a good time and showing who you are. You enjoy the excitement of romance and might be a bit dramatic in how you approach intimacy. Feeling admired and desired is important for your sexual satisfaction. What you need is fun, passion, feeling admired and desired, and a partner who likes your playful and creative way of being intimate.

Mars in the 6th House: Intimacy Through Caring

If your Mars is in the 6th House (the house of helping others, routines, and health), you might show your sexual desires by doing things for your partner and focusing on the practical side of intimacy. You might enjoy pleasing your partner and paying attention to the little details of lovemaking. Feeling physically good and having some order in your life can also make you feel more comfortable sexually. What you need is to feel useful and appreciated, clear communication about what you both want, and a partner who values being attentive and caring.

Mars in the 7th House: Desire in Partnership

With Mars in the 7th House (the house of partnerships), your sexual energy is strongly linked to being in a committed relationship. You're likely attracted to partners who are also assertive and direct, and there might be a push-and-pull or even some conflict in your intimate connections. You need a partner to reflect your own desires, and you might feel most satisfied with a balanced and give-and-take sexual relationship. What you need is partnership, mutual desire, and a lively and engaged connection with your significant other.

Mars in the 8th House: Diving Deep into Intimacy

When Mars is in the 8th House (the house of deep intimacy, transformation, and shared resources), your sexual desires are intense, curious, and often connected to wanting to merge deeply with your partner both emotionally and physically. You might be drawn to the hidden sides of sexuality and crave profound, life-changing experiences in intimacy. Trust and being open with each other are key for your sexual fulfillment. What you need is a deep emotional and physical connection, trust, vulnerability, and a partner who is willing to explore the deepest parts of intimacy with you.

Mars in the 9th House: Passion for Exploring

If your Mars is in the 9th House (the house of big ideas, travel, and learning), your sexual desires might be mixed with a sense of adventure, exploration, and a search for meaning. You could be attracted to partners from different backgrounds or those who teach you new things. Honesty, freedom, and sharing similar beliefs can be important in your intimate connections. What you need is freedom, honesty, shared values, and a partner who inspires you and opens your mind.

Mars in the 10th House: Ambition in the Bedroom

With Mars in the 10th House (the house of career and how you're seen by others), your sexual drive might be linked to your ambitions, your status, and how people see you. You might be attracted to partners who are successful or who make you look good to others. There can be a sense of drive and purpose even in your intimate relationships. What you need can be respect, admiration, a partner who supports your goals, and maybe even wanting to be seen as desirable.

Mars in the 11th House: Desire with Friends

When Mars is in the 11th House (the house of friendships, groups, and ideals), your sexual desires might be expressed within a group of friends or people who share your interests and ideas. You might be attracted to friends or people in your social circles, and you might like unconventional or modern ways of being intimate. What you need is an intellectual connection, shared beliefs, a sense of belonging, and maybe a partner who is also a friend.

Mars in the 12th House: Hidden Desires

If your Mars is in the 12th House (the house of the subconscious, secrets, and spirituality), your sexual desires might be more subtle, complicated, or even hidden from yourself. You might find it hard to say what you need directly, or there could be secret aspects to your sexuality. Fantasy and feeling like you're merging with someone on a deeper level can be important in your intimate experiences. What you need can be a deep sense of emotional and spiritual connection, understanding your own hidden desires, and maybe a gentle and understanding partner.

So, knowing your Mars sign and which area of your life (house) it's in gives you a really good way to understand what you truly want and need sexually. It helps you see what sparks your passion and how to have more fulfilling and genuine connections with others. By understanding and embracing your unique Mars energy in both its style and where it plays out, you can learn a lot more about yourself and create better relationships. If you wish to go a step further, you can take aspects to your natal Mars into account as well.

USA Today: Neptune in Aries

United States Chart with Transits

It's tricky to say exactly what Neptune moving through Aries and the 5th house means for the USA because we don't have one agreed-upon "birth chart" for the country. Astrologers use different charts based on important dates like when the Declaration of Independence or the Constitution were signed.

However, we can talk about the general ideas behind Neptune in Aries in the 5th house and how they might show up for the U.S., no matter which chart you look at.

Let's break down the key parts:

  • Neptune: This planet is about dreams, imagination, spirituality, making things up, and feeling connected to everyone. It can make things blurry, make us see things as better than they are, confuse us, and also inspire us. It often breaks down old, strict ways of doing things and makes us focus on things we can't touch or see.
  • Aries: This is the first sign of the zodiac. It's about new starts, taking action, being independent, brave, standing up for yourself, and being a leader. It's energetic, quick to act, and focused on "me first."
  • The 5th House: In astrology, this area is about how we show who we are, our creativity, dating and love, fun, what we do for enjoyment, kids, hobbies, and how a country shows its unique personality and "spark." It's often linked to how proud a country is and the culture it produces.

What Neptune in Aries in the 5th House could mean for the USA:

This suggests a big change in how the United States shows its creative side, how people have fun, how the country views romance (in a general cultural sense), and how it feels about its own identity and pride. Here are some possibilities:

Creativity and Showing Who We Are:

  • Artistic Lines Blurring: Old rules in art and entertainment might disappear, and we might see more unusual, new, and even strange ways of expressing ourselves.
  • Seeing Certain Arts as Perfect: The country might become really obsessed with certain types of art or artists, maybe even in a way that's not realistic or balanced.
  • Spiritual and Imaginative Rebirth: There could be a big new interest in spiritual or magical ideas that shows up in our art, music, and entertainment.
  • Confusion About Our National Image: How the U.S. sees itself and how it shows itself to the world might become unclear or change a lot.

Romance and Fun (Culturally):

  • Unrealistic Ideas About Love: As a society, we might have very romantic ideas about love and relationships, which could lead to disappointment when reality doesn't match up.
  • Old Ideas About Romance Fading: The usual ways of dating, relationships, and families might keep changing or even disappear.
  • Using Fun to Escape: People might try to escape problems by focusing on entertainment, drugs, or quick pleasures instead of dealing with real issues.

Children and Young People:

  • Seeing Young People in an Ideal or Wrong Way: The country's views and treatment of kids and teenagers might be based on unrealistic or overly positive ideas.
  • Not Understanding Youth Culture: The gap between generations and the misunderstanding of what young people value might get bigger.

National Identity and Pride:

  • Our Sense of "Being American" Changing: The core beliefs and values that define the U.S. might become less clear or be argued about a lot.
  • Less National Confidence: The usual displays of national pride and confidence might be weaker because of uncertainty or questioning the past.
  • Dreaming of a Perfect Future: There might be a strong desire for a perfect future for the country, but we might ignore the practical problems in getting there.
  • Risk of National Misunderstanding: The U.S. might have a wrong idea about its own power, influence, and place in the world.

General Things to Think About:

  • It Takes Time: Neptune moves slowly, so these changes won't happen quickly. They'll probably unfold over several years.
  • Possibility of Disappointment: Because Neptune can create illusions, the overly positive ideas in these areas could eventually lead to disappointment when reality hits.
  • A Chance for Spiritual Growth: On the bright side, this time could inspire the country to think more deeply about its values, its creative potential beyond just money, and to understand its role in the world with more compassion.
  • Other Planets Matter Too: What Neptune does will also be affected by where other planets are and how they interact with the U.S. chart at this time.

In Conclusion:

When Neptune moves through Aries and the 5th house for the United States, it suggests a time of big changes in the nation's creativity, how people enjoy themselves, how it relates to young people, and its sense of national identity. It could lead to exciting new ways of expressing ourselves, but also to confusion, seeing things unrealistically, and eventual disappointment if we don't stay grounded. This is a time for the U.S. to think about its deepest values and creative spirit, while also remembering the difference between dreams and what's actually possible. Exactly how this plays out will depend on the specific U.S. birth chart being used and the bigger picture of what's happening in the sky.

I embrace my intuition and creativity, allowing my Piscean sun to illuminate my dreams and connect me to the boundless flow of compassion.

Interpretation

When the sun enters the astrological sign of Pisces, it's a time for reflection and emotional cleansing. People tend to become more introspective and withdrawn, focusing on their inner feelings and past hurts. They may be more sensitive and intuitive, with vivid dreams and a greater sense of empathy.

Aspects

Neptune conjunct the North Node in Pisces opposite a conjunction of the South Node and the MC in Virgo.

Full Moon in Leo 2025

Full Moon in Leo

The Lesson

To find a middle ground between being true to yourself and considering how your actions affect others, so you can share your talents and make a positive impact on the world.

The Affirmation

I accept who I truly am and bravely share my talents and personality while also being mindful of how my actions affect everyone around me.

Interpretation

A full moon in Leo can make people feel more confident, creative, and outgoing. They might enjoy socializing and doing things that make them happy. However, they might also be a bit self-centered and overlook the needs of others. This is a good time to work on being less vain, arrogant, and selfish.

Aspects

When the Sun and Mercury (representing our thinking and communication) meet up in Aquarius (associated with innovation and forward-thinking) and then clash with Uranus in Taurus (related to stability and material things), it can create some friction. We might feel a strong urge to express ourselves in new and different ways, and have exciting, original ideas. However, we might also feel resistant to change, especially when it comes to things that make us feel secure, like our finances or routines. This can lead to surprising insights or unexpected events that shake things up. It's a time when we could make some real progress, but we might also experience some disruptions. The key is to find a middle ground between trying new things and holding onto what feels safe and comfortable.

Magical Correspondences

  • Herbs: Sunflower, Bay Leaf, Rosemary
  • Essential Oils: Orange, Bergamot, Frankincense

Venus in Aries 2025

Venus in Aries

I love confidently

The Lesson

Embrace your independence and pursue what you desire with courage and passion, while also learning to balance assertiveness with consideration for others.

The Affirmation

I am confident and courageous in expressing my desires, and I attract love and abundance by being true to myself.

Interpretation

When Venus is in Aries, people tend to feel more passionate and driven. They're more confident and excited, and they're more likely to pursue their desires – whether it's a romantic partner or a personal ambition. They might be more willing to take risks, act spontaneously, and assert themselves. This is a good time to chase dreams like starting a relationship, working on a creative project, or looking for a new job.  However, Aries can also make people impulsive, leading to hasty decisions. While it's good to follow your instincts, it's also wise to think things through. Taking a moment to consider your actions can help avoid mistakes and ensure you're pursuing your passions in a smart way. Basically, it's about balancing courage with careful thought, so you can go after what you want without doing anything you'll regret.

Aspects

When Venus (love and values) travels through Aries and joins with Neptune (dreams and spirituality) and the North Node (destiny) in Pisces, it can make us feel very idealistic and spiritually driven in our relationships.  We might deeply crave a soulmate connection or be drawn to someone who seems to perfectly match our spiritual beliefs.  However, because Neptune can blur reality, we might not see things as they truly are, leading to potential disappointment.  The North Node in Pisces suggests we grow by being more compassionate and loving unconditionally, but also by learning to tell the difference between our fantasies and what's real. This time could bring spiritual awakenings and creative inspiration, but it's crucial to stay grounded and avoid getting lost in illusions or deceiving ourselves.

Magical Correspondences

  • Herbs: Ginger, Hawthorn, Damiana
  • Essential Oils: Clary Sage, Bergamot, Damiana
  • Crystals: Rose Quartz, Carnelian, Emerald

We All Ching for I-Ching!

I have created a new blog for my Etsy store, 12th House Books, which you can find hereThe 12th House Blog is where we share our love for the written word, one dusty tome at a time. Get a behind-the-scenes look at what it's like to be an Avid collector of rare books & seller of vintage occult books. Expect witty book reviews, quirky author profiles, and a healthy dose of bibliomania! You can read my first post below but I encourage you to click over to the 12th House Blog and follow us there.

A Rare Find

Last week, I was browsing the shelves at my favorite second-hand bookstore in search of rare and vintage books for my Etsy store, 12th House Books, when I came across this interesting tome. At first, I thought it was a Bible, but upon closer inspection, I saw that it had this little flap attached to it containing some sticks. Upon closer inspection, I found that it was a 1977 copy of The I Ching or Book of Changes by Richard Wilhelm translated into English by Cary F. Baynes and with a forward by C.G. Young himself!

As you can (hopefully) see from the photograph, this leather was handmade and handstitched by the previous owner, or someone on their behalf. As near as I can tell, the symbol on the cover are Chinese characters that read Chou I, "Changes of Chou," an alternative name of the "Book of Changes."

The sticks turned out to be wooden skewers which many people use in place of yarrow stalks or coins to generate their trigrams. From the aged appearance of the sticks, they appear to be quite old and often used. Clearly, this book was well loved, and I wonder if it was donated by the previous owner's child or grandchild who didn't completely understand or couldn't appreciate the worth of such a unique item. As for the original cover, you can see a photo here.

Found in the Pages

Flipping through the book, I found these two dried leaves which appear to be from a Maple Tree. Now what I find REALLY interesting is that if you look closely, you'll see a single (human?) hair pressed between the pages along with the Maple Leaves. According to Scott Cunningham in his book Encyclopedia of Magical Herbs, maple leaves are used in love spells. This could quite possibly be a love spell to bring two people together!

I also found this receipt dated March 27th, 1988, from a Waldenbooks somewhere in California. This edition was printed in 1987, so it's not unreasonable to think this receipt is for this specific book

What Does This Mean?

I'm not sure what to make of this find. It's possible that the previous owner of the book was a witch or a magician. Or it could be that they were simply a fan of The I Ching and wanted to add a personal touch to their book. In any case, I find it fascinating that this book has such a rich history. It's a reminder that books can be more than just words on a page. They can be portals to other worlds and other times.

I'm grateful to have found this book, and I'm excited to share it with you. If you're interested in learning more about The I Ching, I encourage you to check out my Etsy store, 12th House Books. I have a variety of books on divination and witchcraft, including many rare and vintage editions. I hope you enjoyed this blog post. If you did, please share it with your friends and family. And be sure to check back soon for more blog posts from 12th House Books.
