Aries- You are all about relationships this month and you are poised to learn a great deal about yourself and the world that you live in through your relationships to the other people in your life. Your focus is on the other in your life this month and you are concerned with how you work with your partners of all kinds (business or personal). You generally benefit from the relationships in your life and should find yourself becoming closer to others this month. 

Taurus- You identify more with the work that you do this month. You're not interested in fun or fantasy and prefer to throw yourself into your work. You are more organized at this time and can deal with the small details of any matter. For this reason you can focus on completing several small projects rather than one big one. Successfully accomplishing needed tasks makes you feel good about yourself and the life that you have. 

Gemini- You experience a greater sense of freedom and happiness than you have in a long time this month. You aren't overly concerned with work, responsibilities, or other obligations right now. You just want to have fun and you want you want to have it now. You are warmer, more friendly, and are enthusiastic about life and people now. The world is one big stage for you this month and you have the starring role in the picture of the year. Enjoy your time in the sun! 

Cancer- You are more of a homebody this month and issue of home and family occupy your attention and interest. You're not interested in going out or doing things away from home but rather prefer quiet evenings at home doing things you enjoy or spending time with your family and other loved one. This is also a good time to re-arrange, re-model, or renovate your home so that your home and surroundings are more of a sanctuary for you. 

Leo- You're more mentally active and alert now. Your mind overflows with thoughts and ideas, you are eager to talk about and others are eager to listen to what you have to say. For this reason, you find yourself being more social for the next four weeks or so and you are able to network with others and make those connections that are so important for having success in life. This is a good period for collecting and analyzing data and information to be used or implemented later. 

Virgo- Your focus this month is on your personal values and those things which you value. You identify with the material things you possess and see them as a symbol of your status or position in life. Your possessions, the amount of money you have in the bank, the state of your home, the make and model of your car... do they really define you or are you defined by those intangible values called loyalty, trust, and honesty to name a few? 

Libra- You are likely to experience a sense of renewal and revitalization this month. However, this will be preceding by an ongoing period of positive self-centeredness (what Dr. Martello called psysho-selfism) that others may misconstrue as unapologetic selfishness. For this reason you may find it difficult to work with others too closely this month. Now is the time for you to focus on your personal needs and goals and devise a spiritual plan for achieving them. 

Scorpio- This month will likely be marked by a period of deep introspection. You will find yourself exploring the deeper, more hidden parts of your own psyche in an attempt to bring illumination and a greater understanding of who you are. You may confront aspects of yourself that no longer serve you and challenge yourself to move past them. This will be a time of completion and endings in which you shed your ego and destroy negative patterns of thought and behavior so that you can regenerate. 

Sagittarius- Friendships and group related activities come to bear this month. Your role in the groups you belong to come under your scrutiny now as well as their purpose and function in your life. You find yourself questioning what you are getting out of these associations or if you are contributing your own fair share. The best way to figure this out is by active participation in common activities. It is important for you now to be a part of the group in which your individuality is also well established. 

Capricorn- You're focused on your career and reputation this month and you want both to shine. This is a good time for examining what drives you in terms of the outer-world, what your goals and aspirations in life are as well as how close or even how far you are from achieving them. You could be charged with more authority this month and with added responsibility on your shoulders comes added scrutiny and observation by your superiors. It is important for your own advancement that you do well. 

Aquarius- You're waxing philosophical this month and want to broaden your horizons in many ways. This will entail you stepping out of your comfort zone to experience people, places and things with which you are not familiar. Breaking out of your usual routine brings unique and beneficial opportunities. You absorb everything now and you find yourself with a powerful thirst for knowledge as well as a strong desire for meaningful experiences. The study of new subjects as well as travel is favored at this time. 

Pisces- You're more reflective this month and are focused on transforming some aspect of your life in a significant and meaningful way. You may find yourself to be more moody and emotional as you try to figure out both what you want to change and how you want to change it. Your emotional pendulum can swing towards the extremes and you tend to keep things to yourself. You will also find that you excel at any type of research or information gathering.

When Mercury is in Scorpio people can, generally speaking, be more suspicious and fond of crime and mysteries in general. They can be more passionate and intense in regards to anything that they find themselves curious about or which they do not understand. They may also be more apt to talk about sex and sexual needs (especially with their partner).

The natal house Scorpio occupies in your birth chart is the area of life where Mercury in Scorpio will be felt.

With Mercury in Scorpio and the First House, all that passion and intensity for research and investigation is turned on the self. Your mind is clearer and more astute now and you are driven to explore yourself and figure out who you are. You're more talkative and are likely to strike up conversations with others and you learn about yourself through your interactions with others and their perception of you.

In addition to the ingress of Mercury in Scorpio, you would also want to look at any aspects formed between Mercury and the planets in your Natal Chart.

* Any planets around 0-2° +/- Scorpio will form a Conjunction

* Any planets around 0-2° +/- Virgo or Capricorn will form a Sextile

* Any planets around 0-2° +/- Leo or Aquarius will form a Square

* Any planets around 0-2° +/- Cancer or Pisces will form a Trine

* Any planets around 0-2° +/- Taurus will form an opposition

For example, in my own Natal Chart I have Jupiter in 2° Aquarius meaning that Mercury is making a Square to Neptune. When Mercury (I think) is Square (Hard Aspect) to Jupiter (I Expand) you may experience thinking and behavior that is considered over-the-top and you may have trouble reigning yourself in. Any decisions that need to be made should be well thought out before committing yourself to any options.

Libra is cardinal sign and cardinal signs herald the beginning of a new season. When the Sun enters Libra it signals the beginning of Autumn. The end of summer also heralds "cuffing season", a time when people prefer to in a serious relationship rather than free and independent. This is owing to the longer nights, shorter days, and colder weather. 

Libra rules relationships so it is no wonder that when the Sun enters Libra people are generally more interested in relationships of all kinds (love, business, and/or platonic).  People are generally more charming and sociable, they are more willing to compromise in their relationships, they want to improve their relationships and their relationship status. There is also a desire to have more balance between work and play. 

Where Libra falls in your natal chart is where you will most strongly feel the ingress of the Sun in Libra.

When the Sun is in the 12th house is shines a light on what is hidden there and the 12th house is associated with our karma, mental trauma, and emotional baggage. When the Sun is in Libra and the 12th house you find harmony when you examine the hidden parts of the mind with the intention of confronting and healing past trauma and releasing emotional baggage.  As you deal with your own long-standing issues, you may find that being around other people robs you of your energy and strength.  You can be more emotional and sensitive and avoid drawing any attention to yourself.  However, you can also be more compassionate and inclined to support and help others when asked. 

Aspects 

Aspects, or relationships between planets is another dimension of astrological interpretation that should be considered. For example, let us suppose that you have Jupiter at 2° Aquarius then this would mean that the Sun at 0° Libra is applying a trine to your Natal Jupiter. A trine is a type of soft aspect in which the energy or urge of one planet flows with the energy or urge of another planet. When the Sun trines Jupiter you're more confident and optimistic and our relationships improve. This is a time in which personal and financial opportunities can come to you. 

Ruler of the House 

Now we look to the ruler of the house. The Sun rules Leo, so the ingress of the Sun in Libra will have an affect on the area of life that that Leo a rules in your Natal, or Birth, Chart. Let us suppose that you have Leo in the 10th house, then this would mean that you also have Libra in the 12th House.  This would be expressed as the ruler of the 10th house in the 12th house; or the activities of the 10th house serve the agenda of the 12th house. 

This statement could then be interpreting as reputation, achievement, and the desire for recognition serves solitude, escapism, and meditation. We can then extrapolate on this statement and say something like. Fame brings the opportunity to let go of sorrow and grief but it also brings isolation. You want to hide due to too much exposure. Fame can open the door for you to explore the occult or paranormal. Your best career is one in which you work alone.

What is a Mantra?

A mantra is a word, a series of words,  or a statement that is repeated in order to aid one's concentration. Some sources have likened a mantra to an affirmation (a positive statement of intent) or even an incantation. In Eastern (Vedic) Astrology there are mantras there are mantra associated with the planets which are chanted in order to align with them and pull in their energies, their gifts, and their blessings. These are often chanted as part of rituals to remedy the negative expression of the planet in our chart and consequently in our lives. For example the mantra for mercury is "Om Aim Bum Budhaya Namah"

Each of the twelve signs of the zodiac have a mantra associated with them which give an indication of their purpose or energy in astrology. They are:

Developing Your Personal Astrological Mantra 

Most people know their Sun Signs, so let us start with your Sun Sign and it's Ruler. For example I am a Virgo which is ruled by Mercury

So I might start with the words analyze and communicate or some derivative of those words. Next I would research Virgo and Mercury and compile a list of keywords associated with them. You may find The Rulership Book by Rex E. Billis helpful in compiling your keywords.

Next, you would read over these keywords and make a new list of words that most resonate with you on a deep spiritual level, or produces a positive emotional reaction or feeling inside yourself. For some of you who are lovers of words and the turn of phrases this will not be difficult. However, for others it may be more difficult. For example, the phrase cellar door has been described as the most beautiful word in the English language. Conversely, many people have a negative, almost visceral reaction to hearing the word moist. Again, in this case, we want to focus on words that produce a positive reaction. Continuing our example above, I might choose the following words.

This may be further whittled down and the words moved around so they they flow more easily once they are spoken. For example:

And there you have my astrological mantra! But what does it mean, you say? Well we must remember that nothing has meaning until we give it meaning. This series of words can be used as an emotional or magical trigger to be chanted or repeated prior to performing spells or rituals, before meditation, or prior to practicing divination.

A New Moon occurs when the Sun and Moon occupy the same degree of the same sign at the same time. As you can see from the above chart the Sun and Moon both occupy 25° of Virgo making this a New Moon 

The New Moon in Virgo 

When the New Moon is in Virgo people generally experience feelings of being more humble, they want to be of service to others, but they can also be more critical and discriminating. People want to improve their routines, refine their processes, and make everything efficient and running smoothly. Since Virgo rules both health and work, this new moon is good for starting a new diet or health regime. Its important that you don't attempt to make too many changes too quickly or you may not stick to you program, instead focus on making small, but powerful, changes over time.  This is also a good time to organize or improve your work environment and you relationships with your co-workers.  

General Suggestions for Working With New Moon in Virgo Energy

Since the September New Moon occurs in 25° Virgo, you would look at your Natal, or Birth Chart to ascertain in what House 25° Virgo occurs.

Aspects, or relationships between planets, are another dimension of astrological interpretation that should be considered. In my own chart, the New Moon at 25° Virgo is separating a conjunction to my Natal Sun. When the New Moon makes a conjunction to your Natal Sun, this is a good time to adopt a new attitude or a new outlook on life. You might want to re-evaluate your relationships now and consider if they are worth continuing or releasing. If they are worth continuing, how might you improve them? Who you are on the inside now more closely resembles who you are on the outside.

When Venus is in Leo, people are generally more enthusiastic about life, romance, and physical activities of all kinds.  They are more playful and need more attention.  They are more in touch with the creative and artistic aspects of their personality and are more in love with love. People are generally more interested in romance and socializing and can get caught up in the game of love.

This would mean that Transit Venus in 0° Leo is forming a square to your Natal Moon. A square is a type of aspect in which the energy or urge of one planet is squaring off against the energy or urge of another planet. When Transit Venus Square your Natal Moon you have a tendency to be lazy and self-indulgent. If partnered, you may feel that something is a bit off with your relationship which you have difficulty defining. This may be a period in which you splurge too much on items for your home because spending money softens the emotional unease you are experiencing.

They are more willing to talk about social contracts, the listen to the "other side" and compromise on important issues.

For example, let us say that you have Pluto at 3° Libra, that would mean that Transit Mercury is applying a conjunction to your natal Pluto. A conjunction is a type of aspect in which the energy or urge of one planet merges with the energy/urge of another planet and you cannot tell them apart. 

When Mars conjuncts Pluto your mind becomes stimulated and you can become obsessed with an idea that you can't shake; or you become driven with finding out the truth of any matter that interests you. There is depth to your thinking now and you can use this is an good aspect for research, study, and uncovering secret knowledge.

A Full Moon occurs when the Sun and the Moon occupy the same degree of opposite signs of the Zodiac. As you can see from the above chart the Sun is at 10° Virgo and the Moon is at 10° Pisces making this a Full Moon. 

The Big Picture 

Pisces is about what we hide from either ourselves or others. It is associated with the need to escape, to get away, to be introspective and nurture our own spirits. On the flip side, Virgo is about our routines, our responsibilities and service to others. 

When the Full Moon is in Pisces, subconscious issues are more acute and we can no longer ignore or deny them. We are moved to confront and heal our subconscious issues, emotional baggage, and psychic trauma.  This is usually a time of introspection, meditation, and inner reflection.  Generally we have less energy than normal and our inner issues may grab at our attention through our dreams. For this reason, sleep may be less peaceful than usual as well. 

With the Sun in Virgo, there's an equal and opposite energy at play here where others may come to you for some form of help. You may be called upon to put the needs of others above your own needs and you just don't have the energy or inclination to do so. This is a pattern of energy that we will see play out on a grand scale in the news, politics, and across social media but also in the lives of our friends, family, and ourselves.

How to Work with Full Moon in Pisces Energy 

• take a digital detox by avoiding social media, email, or spending time on your cell phone
• start a dream journal, study your dreams for messages 
• make a collage or mandala of your dreams 
• study your natal chart 
• get a psychic reading (tarot, astrology, bone reading, etc... ) 
• start a meditation practice 
• engage in spiritual pursuits (journaling, yoga, affirmation, spiritual bathing etc...) 
• schedule a therapy session with a qualified therapist 
• practice self care 
• learn to set boundaries 

The Personal Touch 

To better understand how the Full Moon in Pisces will affect you, you need to look at the natal houses which Pisces and Virgo occupy in your birth chart. For example, in my own chart Pisces is in the 5th House while Virgo is in the 11th.  Whereas the 5th house rules personal pursuits, usually creative in nature; the 11th house is about coming together with others to achieve a goal that is for the benefit of the world at large, such as a social or humanitarian cause. So for me the conflict will present itself as a desire to pursue personal creative projects vs the desire to do something for the greater good. 

I would also look at the aspect the full moon is making to my natal chart.  At quick look my natal chart shows that the Full Moon in 21° Pisces is applying a sextile to my natal Mars at 9° Taurus. A sextile is type of aspect in which the energy or urge of one planet cooperates with the energy or urge of another planet.  When the Moon forms a sextile to Mars, emotions cooperate with your drive and energy.  You can now recognize and express your passions with ease. You have more confidence, more courage, and more leadership ability. Your relationships with men can also improve now.
